hello i have 5 local extensions all working good. now i need to provision 1 ext outside office. the phone is a grandstream gxp-1628 and i have successfully provisioned with stun mode, but i have no audio both sides, not even voicemail...

  • 3CX Version, Standard Annual 18 update 5 build 418
  • Server OS, windows server 2022 standard
  • Is the 3CX Server Hosted and where? on premice
  • IP Phone Make/Model/Firmware version, GrandStream GXP1628 firmware 1.0.7.13
  • Provisioning Method: STUN
  • Has the Firewall Checker passed: YES
  • Are custom Phone Templates being used: NO

Is the phone the only SIP device behind a router at its location? There could be a conflict with the voice ports used if there are other SIP devices (or the router has a built-in ATA), either that or the router does not play well with SIP. Usually, if there are only one or two devices, I don't find there are audio issues, but there are exceptions. Is there a firewall?

I assume that any dialed calls will ring, and the set can receive calls, just no audio.

You might want to check the 3CX Activity Log (Verbose), in the off chance it is something like a Codec issue.

You may want to move the phone to a different location (someones home?), to see if the issue follows the set. If it works elsewhere, then I'd say there is an issue with the router (maybe just a setting), at the location.

yes it's the only sip device behind the router. i have also forwarded the ports for stun to the phone. firewall disabled. yes the phone rings but no audio. i have moved the phone to another location and the problem still there. :/

Since the firewall checker works, I'm going to assume that the network settings at the 3CX end should be OK. Since you've tried the set at a different location, with no success either, that reduces the possibility that it is the far end router. That leaves the set itself as the prime suspect.

Have you tried enabling PBX Delivers Audio, in the extension setting? It should not be require, but....

Do you ave any other remote device that do work?

Did you have a look at the 3CX Activity Log for any errors, or some indicator of what might be happening? Again...Codecs?

yes i have tried enabling the " PBX Delivers Audio " no luck. i tried to look at the activity log but no success

Do you hear dial tone? I've seen an audio issue being caused by the handset being plugged into the headset jack. If you press a number key, does a DTMF tone come through on the far end?
When you say that you "tried" to look at the log, does that mean you are unable to access the log, or there is no seemingly useful information, when set to Verbose?

Have you tried using the set locally, to confirm that the set is not faulty?

Hi,

STUN can be a bit tricky when it comes to audio issues, and it usually comes down to firewalls blocking the audio traffic (even when you think you opened the ports) or SIP-ALG messing with the traffic in unpredictable ways.

With 3CX V18 Update 6, you have the option of using a phone with a built in SBC.
You can see the SBC capable models here: https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/v18-update-6-alpha/

If you are not able to resolve the audio issues, this could serve as a good solution for a single remote phone.
