I was just checking out my SuiteCRM integration and it is no longer creating contacts in 3CX. Checking the system logs shows it can find the contact, can create the call record and create a new contact if the contact does not exist.

I have checked and the phone number I am calling in on is not used within 3CX anywhere..

Is it case sensitive now for ContactID

in my CRM template I had ContactID as a Type. It is no longer a choice.

And now it's all working again.

Please note that v18 is still on alpha, and the changes to the documentation have not been published yet.

In 3CX v18 Alpha 5 we made changes to the CRM integrations in order to support contact lookup by email, and chat journaling. Among other things, we removed the 10 minutes cache, and avoided the lookup before call journaling (and now chat journaling). In order to do this, there are 2 important changes:
1) The Contact Lookup (by phone and email) scenarios must return the EntityId and EntityType outputs. This information will be stored in 3CX Contacts, so when we need to execute the call journaling or the chat journaling, we have the information in place.
2) As we're not executing the contact lookup before Call Journaling, all the variables starting with "Contact::" that were available in v16 will not be available anymore in v18. In all the CRMs we support, we managed to get working templates only with the EntityId and EntityType, so you should adjust your templates to use those variables as well.

You can check the standard templates included with v18 Alpha 5 for more details. The official documentation will be available when we release the final version.

Does this mean that CRM templates built for V16 will need to be updated to work with V18?

Yes, unfortunately. But it's not a complex modification.

Wait for the official release, download the new V18 template and do your edits there, then reupload that to your system once it is upgraded.

In some cases no modifications are needed, for example if you don't implement call journaling, or if your call journaling implementation is not using parameters from the contact lookup, you might not need to make any change. In the worst case, it's just adding an output for the EntityId and EntityType.
