Hello again,

Just an academic question: is there a way to convert existing 'normal' 3CX v20 SC16 to multi-tenant flavor? Say, would it be possible to install multi-tenant distro from the scratch, then just restore the system from the backup file?

Thank you.

I am wondering the same thing.

The installer for 3CX Multitenant is exactly the same as the dedicated instance. There is no separate installer for this. The only difference is in the configuration file when setting it up.

There is no restore option for Departments\Customers. It is an overall restore, plus the FQDN would be dif unless you used the same from the customer you are migrating.

Just reopening this as I have the same question - we have an existing 'normal' 3CX deployment that we used as multi-tenant in the past but would like to switch it's config to the new multi-tenant configuration - ideally without having to restore it? I know the installer is the same but we don't have the same department options that you get in multi-tenant ie specifying the extension range etc. Is there a setting somewhere we can use to convert this to multi-tenant?

No.

If you want the system to run according to the manufacturer's specifications, start with a new, empty installation. This is the official recommendation.

ok thanks - but we should be able to backup this one and restore it to a new multi-tenant install? If so i'll do that.

What do you mean?

Install a new multi-tenant from scratch and set it up. No restore.

If this multi-tenant was installed and set up like this, then yes: you be able to backup this one and restore it to a new multi-tenant install.

Ok, I thought perhaps a backup from a standard install would be compatible with a multitenant install as they are essentially the same just with config differences. If not setting up from scratch might be a bit painful.

Then: ... it might be a bit painful.
