Good Morning:

My first experience with Telnyx was using it as a Hosted SMS solution. It was super easy to setup, and more or less, worked exactly how it was supposed to. I recently had a second deployment that was Hosted by 3CX. Initially I had used Voxtelesys for the SIP trunks, but wanted the SMS integration from a single provider.

Fast forward-- call routing and SMS work perfectly. But, I'm getting complaints from the office staff and incoming callers that the ring style is "international" meaning instead of a solid ring, it's to the two rings back to back. Has anyone had any experience with Telnyx configurations and do you know if there's a way to alter it?

Which ring sound?

and what device/app are they using? The mobile apps and Webclient have their own sound.

Yes, but what are they using to make the call? My Webclient/Browser Extension and my mobile sounds like the UK sound. Never bothered me or changed anything in the flow of the call. I think 3CX just decided to use that sound for their internal ringing.

This only occurs on external calls on the Telnyx trunks. Initially, this instance was configured using trunks from Voxtelesys and the ringback was the traditional US single tone.

IP phones are all Fanvil X6U. I am currently the only one using the Andriod App. Trunks are configured using the default 3CX template. Phones are configured using the default 3CX template. It's not a deal breaker, just an oddity.

3CX version is 16.0.7.1078 and FW for IP phones is 2.2.13

The ringing the caller hears depends on 2 things, the first is the message the provider sends to the callers device. If the provider sends a 180 ringing then the callers device will play the ringing tone of the device. Now if the providers sends 183 session progress and there is audio coming with that message then the callers device will hear that.
The second thing is what ringing sound the device plays when it receives the 180 ringing message from the first point.
My suggestion is try calling the trunk from different devices and sources to see if you get the same result. Try from another PBX if available or from mobile devices on different networks. To check what Telnyx does you can also make a call between 2 numbers of the same PBX and check the ringing.

Thank you for the suggestions. I appreciate the response. I will post a reply if I'm able to isolate a solution.

I'm states side and have the proper ring. Have you checked the debugging area in Telnyx? The have pretty good CDR's that indicate the call flow that you could look at to see if it's doing something odd.

Good Morning. Thanks for the reply. I think where we landed on this was that there was a concurrent issue with the upstream provider. The two-tone ring was just an indicator of a bad route. I would have likely just left it alone, but we started to have terrible issues with call quality and disconnects. With some expert research from 3CX using captures, and with that information also being analyzed by Telnyx, they were able to isolate where it was going off the rails. I didn't get an official cause, but based on the information I did receive, it was most likely a problem with the porting request not being completed correctly by Spectrum, and causing a sort of infinite forward loop. I feel like I'm in a Star Trek episode.

Thank you everyone for the great feedback. It was extremely helpful in finding both the cause of the trouble and a solution.

Glad we could help and to see that the issue has been resolved.
