Solved Thoughts on phase out of manual install?

Hi All,

I was just reading this locked thread after finding that the manual install commands for 3CX on Debian had been removed: https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/3cx-manual-installation-instructions-disappeared.76272/

In the case of hosting providers such as Azure who only provide a 30GB drive by default does anyone else feel that this is adding a lot of complexity? If I require a larger PBX I would need to go about increasing disks and repartitioning system drives? With the manual config option at least I can stage an image with the correct disk size, spin up a new VM and quickly run the commands, it's a lot easier and there is less risk of breaking something.

Perhaps I am missing something?

@Matthew Marven as I can see if you setup via 3cx wizard, depending the region, Azure offers multiple options for installation. Check attached screenshot.
I would highly recommend to use 3CX Wizard.

@NikosT_3CX thanks, I see your point although I still can't choose exactly what I want and there are possible cost implications!

Also, if I use the 3CX Wizard to provision a 3CX instance to GCP I am left with a randomly generated hostname that I can't change after the install, it was just nice to have the flexibility of the commands as the system can be set exactly as IT want it to be.

Use the 3CX iso image to build your vms then.

@Matthew Marven I can understand your point for Azure and also GCP.
You can also use any Marketplace ISO you want, rename the hostname inside the machine ( OS Level ) and expand the disks as much as you want on the OS Level again.
Or else you may setup a 3CX ISO as mentioned above and you may proceed.
About the manual installation steps, we are not in place to know what needs to be applied to each provider, so ISO, Marketplace and 3CX Wizard are the safest options to avoid issues and complications.
