Note: “Split-Brain DNS” setups will become mandatory in 3CX Systems in the future.

We are currently working with "local DNS" for physical phones.
Does this mean that 3CX is considering dropping the ability to add "local DNS" choice during installation? .

No, it just means you will need to use an FQDN locally with Split DNS to have everything work correctly.

My question is... will we be able to choose to continue working with a local DNS instead of Split DNS (New deployment).

There are many reasons why we don't work with a SPLIT-DNS solution.
We have already tried to work with this method and we encountered different problems in different non-Windows DNS server.

Dear @bravad , the option to enter a local DNS entry will be removed in the future versions of 3CX.
It should also not make a difference to use a different DNS server as long it responds locally to the "3CX FQDN" with an internal IP.

Can you tell me which DNS server you use so that we can make a guide for it?
I would assume bind would be an excellent addition to write a guide for.

Some firewalls also allow responding to some DNS queries. For example, pfsense has a "special" setting for SplitDNS setups

Hello Nick,

Could the limitations on the number of cameras be lifted with an on-premises instance? If so, are any hardware prerequisites required?

The limit of the concurrent active video streams is something we due to the clients, not the server. Having many video streams on a clients/participants PC can put very big strain on their hardware, and we all know that end-users don't always top-of-the-range hardware.
There is also the matter of bandwidth which again increases the more video streams are active.

We are constantly looking at ways to improve WebMeeting though, so if anything changes we will be releasing a blog post about it.

To answer your questions though, currently I have no information about the on-premise MCU allowing more video streams, but it has not be released yet, so we'll have to wait and see!
