First, most apologies as I'm sure this is an odd and probably dumb question. I did search for clarification, but to be honest, I don't even know what to search for...
I'm just now getting into supporting our organizations 3CX system and trying to do so quickly so I'm going through the certification training and I ran into this little gem. I'm aware it's very probable I've overlooked something or have some communication issue here, but I can't get over this without some clarification. I've attached a Snippet of the incident.
Try not to laugh too hard at me.

A simple question was: "You can restrict outbound calls [sp]though your SIP Trunk for all users except your Sales Extension Group users using Outbound Rules."
Simple True or False.
I watched the slide and the video twice and I'm assuming that I missed something or do not fully understand the question.
I selected False as the Sales Extension Group would just be a group I created and none different than any other unless I solely specified. The slide and video did not mention this group as if it was a default created group with it's own inherited rules so I'm not sure why I answered incorrectly with False.

If I've incorrectly posted, please trash me and I'll not make the mistake again, otherwise enlighten a very frustrated individual lol.

Thank you kindly.

True.
You would set an outbound rule where calls from a specific group are routed through a specific trunk. You could set that group to be “Sales” and route the calls accordingly.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like you're affirming my response but you said true. Are you saying the answer to that question is True or that what I said is true?

The answer is True. You can restrict outbound calls for everyone but your “Sales” group using outbound rules. Sales would be an extension group you create not a built in group.

But if Sales is a group I create, why could I not restrict outbound calls for that group just like any other group? I'm still missing something here, sorry.

You can.

"You can restrict outbound calls [sp]though your SIP Trunk for all users except your Sales Extension Group users using Outbound Rules."

To me, this means can you set the system to only allow sales group extensions to make outbound calls. The answer is yes, you can. So if you did not want tech support to make outbound calls, you would create two groups 1) “Sales” 2) “Support” and create an outbound rule for group “Sales” to go through a specific trunk. This way support extensions could not call out but sales could. Does that help?

Oh! I see, I was not reading it the same way. I read that you can restrict outbound calls to all users with the exception of the Sales Group. You're saying it was offering a situation and asking me if it could be done. Thank you for clarifying that ha!
