I am attempting to migrate from a 3CX v18 instance running on a Debian VM to a new install on R-Pi 4b

I have flashed the card and installed the PBX from the script in the install guide but when i attempt to use the backup taken from the 3CX VM i get an error stating the backup is too new and cannot be restored.

I cannot seem to find a way to get the Pi up the same build number as the VM or downgrade the VM to below the Pi version and retake the backup

Any tips are greatly appreciated - even if there is a newer beta build I can run on the Pi that would work for me

The last version of the PBX for Raspberry Pi arm platform is older. They stopped developing updates for it so it cannot be upgraded to the more recent releases.

Sorry, you are out of luck. You can start from scratch but you are recommended not to run the 3cx PBX on the raspberry Pi.
They still support it for use as SBC so you could redeploy it as a remote site. If you want to run your 3cx on a cloud hosting platform and then use the raspberry pi as your local site sbc it would work.

So i've went for a DigitalOcean hosted service for now until my client makes their mind up about what they want to do, but seems a little user hostile that you can't migrate between platforms

In this case it's because of RPi4 not being able to run the latest version of V18 at the moment, but updates should continue in the future (read V18 Update 3 release notes for more info.)
Migrating between platforms aside from this scenario is usually no problem at all, e.g. migrating Windows-based PBX to Linux or vice-versa.
