Trash old 3cx instance?

Hi everyone,

is it possible to trash, severe an old 3cx self hosted instance?

FQDN keeps going back to an old instance and knocking us off.

we have access to the mgmt console but not the OS.

Let’s proceed from here;
go to Admin > Advanced > Network.

Modify the static public IP and insert the new public IP of the new VM (even if it doesn’t actually match the public IP of the current machine).

Save the changes.

Since 3CX uses this value to propagate the IP behind its FQDN, there is no risk of the FQDN pointing back to the old IP.

(Bonus tip: Disable inbound and outbound calls on the SIP TRUNK in 3CX. You’ll thank me later.)

Disable the following services via the services page:

- 3CX PhoneSystem 01 AudioProvider
- 3CX PhoneSystem 01 SIP Server
- 3CX PhoneSystem 01 System Server
- 3CX PhoneSystem 01 IVR Server
- 3CX PhoneSystem 01 Call Flow Server
- 3CX PhoneSystem 01 Queue Manager Server
- 3CX PhoneSystem Media Server
- 3CX Event Notification Manager
- 3CX Gateway Service

Again, its a big site that requires 24/7 uptime. trying to either fudge the old install or make it work. replacing FQDN is gonna be a massive undertaking. Im thinking about setting the old server up as standby.

It will use this IP after the services are restarted
However, if you select "dynamic," it will indeed resolve the actual WAN IP.

So, use "static" and configure the new public IP.

One attempt is: create a new test license (term 90 days) with a new arbitrary FQDN and an unused email address of yours, temporarily install a 3CX somewhere and activate it with this license, create a backup of it, shut down the test 3CX, change the destination of the backups for the 3CX to be deleted to a location that you have access to, save the previously created backup of the test 3CX there and restore it in the 3CX to be deleted.

If the license and FQDN is not the same, 3CX won’t allow you to restore the backup via the graphical interface. There’s a validation in place to prevent exactly this kind of workaround.
