Basic info on the system:

3CX v16.03.xxx 4SC Pro license
On prem (Intel NUC)
Wiretap telecom as SIP provider
Grandstream GXP2170 phones

Everything has been working great with the exception of the "redial" feature. Specifically, when an Android app user tries to dial a missed call back from the menu, tries to directly redial a number from the menu, or tries to dial a number from their phone's contact list. It just immediately fails. Looking at the logs, you see:

10/28/2019 11:55:07 AM - [Flow] Target endpoint for 2345435436 can not be built!

Clearly it is failing because the "9" prefix (required on our systems) isn't included.

I believe we could create a rule that would just prepend a "9" on everything, but that then screws up the dialing to internal extensions (3 digit extensions). What is everyone else doing to allow their App users to use any type of redial?

Thanks! If any more info is needed, feel free to ask!

Create outbound rules, using the length of the dialled number,.

Does you sip provider requires each dialled number to be prefix 9, or is this a legacy setting from your older system where you had to dial 9 to get an outbound line , but the actual number dialled did not contain the prefix of 9

More info on outbound rules - https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/sip-trunks/#h.3evqdta9sabf

Thanks for the quick response Saqqara.

To answer your question, no our SIP provider doesn't require the "9". Its also not a legacy setting from an old phone system as we've just deployed these. I thought it was a required element based on "best practices", the 3CX "SIP trunks" documentation and previous personal experience.

Strangely enough, I never really asked "why" we still needed to set it up with the "9" prefix. Now that I'm asking myself that (and did a bunch of searching), I find that those "best practices" I was following are outdated for simple installs. If we were doing multiple outbound routes, then it may be a requirement, but these are all single SIP, single route systems. So.... Let's slightly change the question: If I change the install to not require the "9", will it solve my other dialing issues and is it a smart move? :)

Thanks!

If prefix of 9 is not required , do not use it - make things easy, as you just dial the number.

just configure your outbound rules correctly, to format the outbound number correctly for ŷour sip provider https://www.3cx.com/docs/usa-sip-trunk/

Also check your E164 settings, under settings
