Hi there...I decided to upgrade to the new GS template (but not using it yet) as well as push out the new firmware. As you can see from the screenshot I have the same MAC at two diffierent IPs. How can that be? Looks like it's spoofed? Also, the two phones located at the 173 address had to b e MANUALLY upgraded from the phone GUI. The PBX didn't work for those two. A;sp. when you attempt to EDIT extension 701 it says can not be done. also here is the 173 actual MAC. Thoughts? Thanks leon

Hello @wa4zlw

Try to provision the phones with the new default template and see if you can replicate the issue. The firmware for new versions is tested with the new default templates so you may be facing some compatibility issues.

Hi @YiannisH_3CX

I've been working with GS on the template and newer firmware for months and is currently my "customer GS" template.
The PBX will NOT allow me to edit that extension at all since there are two IPs with the same MAC address.

So I ask how can I fix this please?

Thanks leon

@YiannisH_3CX I turned off the one phone in my house and it is still not showing up as an extension the device in the synagogue. It only shows up in the PHones display.

current captures. so this is the mac address the PBX thinks it is which I think is the MAC of the device in my house which is turned off so there is no way to control this extension except from the phone web GUI.
Thoughts?

@YiannisH_3CX if I try and recreate the same extension it fails with

Given DN number cannot be used

So the phone registers but the extension number can not be edited, changed, deleted, etc

thoughts?

Thanks leon

Make sure that you are accessing the management console with the main admin account so you are able to view all extensions.
Also are you getting an error when trying to access the extensions? If so can you post it here? Also which PBX version are you running?

Hi @YiannisH_3CX

  1. Yes I am an admin
  2. I only have an error on this particular extension. I posted the error previously up above
3.

Product Standard Annual
Version Number 16.0.1581

Since it does NOT show up on the extension list you can only see it from the PHONES list. Again, the MAC address displayed for the extension in question is wrong. see previous screenshots.
Thanks leon

@wa4zlw From your last screenshot it seems you are loggin in using your extension that has management rights, and not using the PBX Administrator account.

Please try logging in as the administrator to see if the extension appears. I think you are trying to edit an extension which has System Management rights. You are not allowed to edit those unless you are the PBX Administrator

@JohnS_3CX Thanks. yes it was set to manager and I flipped it to User and changed the MAC. Will turn on the other device and see what happens. My extension is a manager so I should have been able to edit 701 as well no?

Thanks leon

@JohnS_3CX I reenabled the second x701 and it shows up but with the same MAC as the original one that was put into the original x701 MAC address on the form. ANy ideas why it's working like this?

Thanks leon

Hi Leon,

If you are a manager you can manage everybody except users that have "System Management" rights ticked.

As for the phones, I suggest you remove them both from their extension, then also delete them from the phones list, and then reset them both. They should start up and broadcast their MAC address to your PBX again and you should be able to see the correct MAC. Then proceed and assign them to their respective extension.

Note: Ensure they are on the latest supported firmware and that you are using our latest templates before you proceed.

Hi @JohnS_3CX

that makes no sense. IMHO a manager should be able to manage everyone otherwise they wouldnt be a manager.

I can not reset them. this is a live phone with saved voicemails. Right now the extensions are working so I will leave well enough alone and revisit this downstream. We are on the latest firmware and the template is one I edited awhile back that is basically what GS sent you.

thanks leon
