We are having trouble forwarding an external call (ie mobile) to an extension mobile number. Transferring a call that originated in 3CX transfers with no issue.

3CX reports the error:
Call or Registration to 1xxxxxxxxxx@(Ln.10000@MI_SIPTRUNK.com) failed.
yy.yy.yy.yy replied: 606 Not Acceptable; from IP:zz.zz.zz.zz:5060

The SIP provider sees:
From=sip:[email protected]/Contact=)

The error is that the mobile carrier will not accept the dashes. The problem is, I do not know where the dashes are coming from. The from number is the 3CX extension caller id. It does not have dashes.

Check your SIP settings -anywhere you entered a DID-
3CX only sends what you programmed

Yes, that was definitely one of the issues: I had dashes in the Extension Outbound Caller ID.

The other issue was that I had recently removed the trunk Outbound Caller ID (in an attempt to fix a different issue).

3CX handles outbound calling differently when Simultaneous Ring Mobile and Forward Call to My Mobile..
- Simultaneous Ring Mobile uses the Extension Outbound Caller ID which caused errors because the mobile carrier would only except digits
- Forward Call to My Mobile uses the trunk Outbound Caller ID which sent only an * when the field was empty

Many thanks to David at siptrunk.com who called me and ran call traces while troubleshooting.
