Unable to install 3cx blocked at first user

hello ,

I am trying to install the latest version of 3cx SIP /PBX but when the wizard comes to the point of asking for the first user extension i get an error and keeps asking me to put in an extension. I get an eRROR a message in italian TRANSLATED HERE saying exception not managed.

what am i doing wrong???

Per attivare il debug JIT, è necessario impostare il valore
jitDebugging nella sezione system.windows.forms del file di configurazione
dell'applicazione o del computer (machine.config).
L'applicazione inoltre deve essere compilata con il debug
attivato.

Is it asking for the operator extension or just the first extension? You do have to put in some sort of operator extensions even if you are going to change it later on.

Make sure you have all of the newest service packs installed and .net framework 3.5.

Also - what kind of network configuration do you have on this machine? how many network cards? do they have multiple IP addresses associated with them?

yes this machine has multiple network cards.. like all other machines to date..

Are both network cards connected? Do both network cards have IP addresses associated with them? do any of the network cards have MORE THAN ONE ip address associated?

Did you make sure you have .net framework 3.5?

I'm asking these questions specifically because of where it failed on get_InterfaceIP(). I don't know exactly what that function is doing (as i'm not a developer for 3cx - not by a LONG shot) but interface IPs seem to be a good place to start.

You're supposed to be able to leave the external IP address blank - but try filling it in and see if it works. Also try disabling other network cards and removing extra IP addresses - get to ONE active ip address on the box and see what happens.

This issue could be related to a bug we currently have logged in our backtracking system:
The 3CX Wizard cannot proceed when the IP Address on the PBX Machine is 169.231.192.10

So make sure that the IP on your PBX machine is not a private 169.X.X.X type IP.


Although 169.X.X.X type IP's are rarely used, we are planning to fix the Wizard to include / allow such an IP format.

I installed version 9, build 13545 this morning and can confirm that this build corrected the problem we were having with a 169.X.X.X IP address.
