We have been locked out of one of our 3cx systems. We had three different client systems where we used the same email for the System owner account. We have set the other two to unique email addresses yesterday and then went back to the one we are locked out of and tried the password reset link but we are not receiving any email.

As it stands we cannot access one of our systems, any ideas??

You can use the same email address on seperate systems no problem. The problem you have is that a) duplicate email b) incorrect SMTP. Has this come out of the blue or have you recently done an upgrade? you may need to raise a ticket with support to see if they can help in recovery.

The unique email address requirement is per PBX. So you cant use the same email on the same PBX.

You can use the same email address on multiple PBXs, as for example you are a partner who manages multiple systems.

The PBX that cant send the email, are you sure its email address isnt duplicated on that system? Try from another extension to see if you get the password reset email.

I believe the email is unique but now have no way of double checking. I did think the email had to be unique per pbx as didn't see how one system would be aware of another unless somehow 3CX where the mail relays through detects a unique reference to the sending email.

Is there any way to reset the email from a config file on the Linux machine as this is a self hosted system so we have access to it

You would need to open a ticket with our support team to assist you with this.

You can easily do this from within your 3CX Partner portal.

Ok thanks, we will raise a ticket now. If this fails we do have a full backup prior to any changes of the virtual machine so we can restore but would prefer not to
