unable to play .wav voice mails from Vista

We've just found that playing the .wav files from within Vista doesn't work.

Is it possible to store the .wav files in mp3 format?

I know this puts a load on the server, but dealing with .wav files isn't very efficient.

Seems vista uses a different codec of some sort.
