Update from 16.0.5.619 to 16.0.5.622 (Update 5 Hotfix 2) fails

How would I "contact support" if I don't have any tickets? Am I supposed to purchase a support ticked for this problem this is your issue with missing files and an invalid command. Not sure what to do here. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

My bet is that you do have this issue but somehow did not apply the correct fix. Obviously could be unrelated.

This fix isn't working. My update logfile says: "Try and perform the update one more time. Chances are that the update will succeed. If not contact support and send the log files".

I'm not sure which fix is "this fix" but it doesn't appear you did either of them properly per your update log. If you did, it wouldn't be looking for the saltstack repo still.

the support person from 3cx posted a solution which is a command to download and install the update. i didn't do anything my system attempted the update automatically and send me a message telling me it failed. the support person from 3cx posted a command line option to update the system. the command returned an "invalid command" error. im still not sure how to submit my logfile to support or why i should have to for this instance as they have acknowledged that the source is no longer online. if you read my logfile it says repositories not found the source is no longer online this is a known issue. im running this server in house. im a little confused by your response. this is a 3cx issue the either need to get debian updates ironed out or stop using the platform.

here is the command suggested:
wget -O - https://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/misc/debianpatches/9/16/0/5/20200619-os-update.sh | bash
i opened a terminal in a browser window to perform this command. do i need to be at the console? ssh? still not able to update my system. if this is the saltstack issue 3cx isn't talking about it. not going to start running random commands on my production pbx. the issue appears to be they removed the repositories and now the command they suggested we use isn't working.

Well if you got an "invalid command error" there is a strong indication that whatever fix your tried did not work..
You clearly seem to have SSH access. Are you able to use a text editor (nano would be your easiest bet) ? If so simply comment the first (and only) line in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/saltstack.list by adding a # signed in position 1.

the command was provided by 3cx staff. hes not responding to my requests for followup. why am i executing this command? if my log says repositories aren't available what does this command you suggest hope to do?

i suppose i could. not a super expert. im in a terminal window logged in as administrator on the web. do i need to be on the console? im the only admin do i need to su at console? i have some knowledge but im not going to run commands unless i know why im running them and what they do.

The command should be run in an SSH shell (NOT the mini console provided via the web gui)

Hi @Rolteus the small terminal provided does not give such kind of powerful access, that would be considered "insane in the world of Linux"

Please SSH into your machine, ensure you have sufficient privileges and paste the command you saw from previously.

It will inform you at the end that you can proceed to now update your server, or if you do not have sufficient privileges it will tell you to "Please run as root".

If you get some different message, please let us know and we can assist accordingly.

If your VM is hosted on Google, log into to your GCP console and SSH into the vm instance.
to elevate privileges enter
sudo su root
this will change your username from your default, to root.
then run the snippet posted before:

I tried "wget -O - https://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/misc/debianpatches/9/16/0/5/20200619-os-update.sh | bash" without quotes and i get invalid command. is there a certain directory i need to be in to successfully execute this command. i have to say this really isn't any way to manage critical updates. im really stressed out i don't need these hassles. i was notified two days prior to this update and it was removed before i could run it. ive had this problem before and it seems like it could be avoided. not sure what to think just want to get my system updated and move on with my life. can you give proper instructions for running this update please? thank you.

I am not sure, but you might be tripping up on needing to be root to run the script after download.

Try sticking a sudo in front of the bash, that worked for me. I was running it in the root directory, but I am not sure that will make any difference.

As our main issue is resolved I'm now seeing a new update that was marked 'out of date' as it appeared. Can anyone shed some light on this?

No, you can ignore that one, its market as Beta.

When the final release of update 6 comes along, the "Beta" tag will go away and it will be replaced by "Release" to indicate that it is an official release

Yes, you can use the backup to restore your config using pbxexpress

Just make sure your old server is switched off,

@drewt you can run aforementioned script which should take care of the problem and allow you to update the instance. Unless you were planning to delete that instance anyway, in which case you can ignore this.
