Upgrading a v16 system!

I have 'inherited' a v16 system which is fully functional but stuck on v16. It has a current PRO 4SC licence. I need to get it onto v20 as soon as possible.

I'm planning on building a brand new v20 system (on a different server) alongside the existing one but with a different FQDN. My question is how to use the same licence key? Is it simply a case of clicking "Disconnect" in the FQDN field in the Subscription in the 3CX customer portal and then installing the new v20 system with the new FQDN and existing key?

I need the v16 system to keep on working until I'm ready to switch the IP phones and apps over to the new v20 system and I'm concerned that re-using the same licence key (just temporarily until the new system is ready) might impact the v16 system.

You can’t use the same license on both at the same time. Keys used on a later version are changed/upgraded to that version.

Your intention is to start with a new server/setup? You can get 4SC keys from a partner. Or start with a trial of v20.
