Hi,

I recently got a request I couldn't answer for the moment.

The following scenario should work:

- One user is in a separate group A.
- All other users are in group B
- All users from group B shall see all contacts from group B and group A
- User from group A shall only see contacts of group A. All members from group B shall be hidden.

No matter what I tried I was not able to get it working. Any hints? Is it even possible to set up?

Best regards

David

Hi @weimerd

To achieve the described scenario, once both groups have been created, go to group A click on the "Group Rights" tab, and enable the option "Publish group information to all extensions".

Then navigate to group B, go the the "Group Rights" tab, but this time disable the option "Publish group information to all extensions".

This will make it so any extension in Group A will be shown to all other groups, but extensions in Group B will not be shown to other extensions which are not part of the same Group.

Thanks Nikolas :)

I tried to set it up at the client. Aaaand another issue appeared that makes this scenario even more complicated.

They set up their group system like that:

1 group of all users (containing all users)
2 group of software dev users
3 group of customer service users
4 group of sales users
NEW GROUP: 5 group that shall contain users that ony see themselves and no other groups.

They did group 1-4 so they have an overview and can easily transfer calls to specific groups.

The issue here is that if I set it up like you mentioned then all users only see the group they are members of. So let's say you are a software dev you would see group 1 and group 2. Group 3 and 4 would be hidden as you are not a member of it. That would not be acceptable for the customer.

I guess with the actual setting my scenario would not be possible, right?

Sorry to bother you with these kind of requests. Highly appreciate you took your time to find a solution already :)

You can achieve the scenario you have described by doing the following.

As a first step, you need to add all the extensions of the Dev Group to all other groups.

After you have added all the Dev group extensions to all other groups, you will need to individually open each extension which is in the Dev Group, navigate to the Rights tab of the extension, and under "Group Membership", you will see the groups of which the extension is part of.

Go through each group except the Dev group, and disable the option "Show presence to group members"

This will make it so that the extension is able to see the members of all groups that is part of, but all other members of all other groups except the Dev Group will not be able to see the extension.

Again MANY thanks for the effort you put in the answer. And Thanks for helping me out, I was really stuck in seing the solution.

We are glad to be of assistance!
