Hi,

Currently have a v15.5 install running on a Windows Server 2012 R2 and looking to move this to google cloud however my understanding is I will not be able to restore a v15.5 backup to google cloud?
I was going to update the v15.5 to v16 on the current server so I could then perform a backup of the v16 and then restore that to the cloud however v16 update 5 is not compatible with Server 2012 so I don't think this is an option.

Does anybody have any ideas of how I can achieve this? Obviously I don't want to be upgrading the Server 2012 as this server is being decommissioned hence the move to the cloud, only other thing I can think of is perhaps installing an older version of v16 (update 4?) as I believe this is compaitble with Server 2012 and then using that backup for the restore to the cloud but I can't seem to find any specific v16 update 4 download links. I also don't know if a v16 update 4 backup would restore to the cloud or if it needs to be on the latest release.

Thanks in advance

What @Saqqara said is probably the best method as using the market place will allow you to restore the backup during installation, meaning it will get converted from a v15.5 configuration to a v16 configuration during the installation process.

If for any reason you prefer using the 3CX PBX express to deploy the new Google machine, you will need to first have a v16 backup so I would propose the following:

Since you're running on Windows Server 2012R2, you could utilize Hyper-V to spawn a Debian 9 machine using the 3CX ISO and upgrade to the latest version of v16.

I'd recommend the following process:

Note: Preferably during out of office hours when downtime is tolerable.

1. Take a full backup of 3CX and move it away from the machine.
2. Completely uninstall 3CX from the machine.
3. Within Hyper-V on the same server, deploy a Debian 9 machine using the 3CX ISO.
4. Use the backup during installation to restore the configuration
5. Once the installation is complete, take a new backup and move it away from the machine.
6. Shut the machine down and use the PBX Express in the partner portal to deploy a new instance in Google.

Important: Before proceeding with this task, make absolutely sure that the current version you are running is either v15.5.15502.6 or v15.5.20000.6.

Thank you for your suggestions, if the google marketplace allows me to restore a v15.5 backup then that's perfect and exactly what I'm after

Be fast though! Once V18 is released, the marketplace version that will be deployed will be V18, not V16 anymore, so then you won't be able to restore a V15.5 backup on a V18 machine.

I can't say exactly when this will happen, but V18 is it RC phase, so pretty soon.

Restoring via the google marketplace sorted it, thank you very much for your help!
