Hi Folks,

I installed a v16 system about 1.5 years ago and all have been running well since. This is installed on our own Server and all has been well.

I need to add some new users for the first time in a long time but I have lost the admin password :(

When I get the 'Forgotten Password' option the message I get is as follows "An Email containing password reset instructions could not be sent. Contact your Administrator" - Really helpful as I am the administrator!

As this is not hosted by 3CX, There is no specific 3CX backup (I know bad practise and this will be corrected as soon as I can login, I do have a whole VM backup of the system though).

How can I somehow get this password reset? or is there someway I may can update some smtp setting in a config file as I feel this is pointing at a old now dead exchange server!

This is for a Church and Community Hub and due to COVID asking them to spend £75 for a support ticket is not great and I am doing this for free and I don't have the spare money either :(

Thanks,

Mike.

P.S - I have full access on the Windows OS running 3CX.

Just because you are the 'administrator' doesn't mean it's going to your email address. It's possible you put the customer address in there, or perhaps an address you used 1.5 years ago and not the one you use currently.

Sorry folks those links take me to what I have tried and it doesn't send an email:

"An Email containing password reset instructions could not be sent. Contact your Administrator"

I don't suppose I can open a config file somewhere and update the smtp details to our new mail server?

Yep, I understand you aren't getting the email. But at the bottom of that article are instructions for retrieving the password another way.

If you can get me remote access into the server on the windows side, i can pop it for you, and give you the passwords without doing it any harm, i do it for people all the time.
