Regarding the issue people faced with no FB user photo and name being WebVisitor, please remove and rebuild your FB integration again but this time in your Facebook Developer Dashboard, request for the following additional permission:

Business Asset User Profile Access

As description text put the following:

"App integrates with 3CX Phone System to which it delivers messages from Facebook Page. Agents on the other end can reply back. Information of visitors like First Name, Last Name and Profile Picture are shown on the chat conversation for the Agents."

The rest of the procedure remains exactly the same. Please test using the above and give us some feedback on it.
@JohnS_3CX , I've tested it, but it didn't work. See my saga here: https://www.3cx.com/community/threa...iew-submission-was-rejected-by-facebook.78491

@JLSeagull It works but its just Facebook didnt accept it. Its a matter that has to be taken up with Facebook.... We dont know why for some people it works and others not.

Re Whatsapp. owned by facebook and process is even more complicated and cumbersome plus you have to pay per message. Unlikely to ever make it into 3CX unless the process changes.

@Nick Galea , with regards to the app, thanks for the feedback! I am aware that the problem is on the Facebook side. I sent an "App Error Report" to Facebook. I'll update you on the results.

With regards to the WhatsApp I hope the process changes, but I don't believe that it will happen!

Thanks again for the heads up. We are going to see if we can find an easier way to integrate with facebook. Meanwhile we are readying RCS/SMS which i believe will be a great way to talk to customers as well and bypass facebook.

@Nick Galea

I would also really like WhatsApp support. And to make it easy: WhatsApp is already supported by Twilio, which you also use for SMS:)

So the API is pretty much the same and we can just buy credits at Twilio and use them for WA or SMS.
In The Netherlands, WA is the most used chat app. Literally everyone has it and sms is barely used at all.
We’re now using WA via Twilio with another app for us to reply. 3CX integration would be nice!

@noord see my other answers about whatsapp. API is not so easy, not even via twilio. Not going to happen unless there is a significant change to the whatsapp processes and api. But thats very possible since Facebook might merge the API of whatsapp. Things are changing fast in this space.

Electron was a very good idea :) We are checking it out :)

Hi, We are looking for a specific 3CX version. "V16.0.7.1078". Is there a way we can download it?
Hi!

The version you are mentioning is V16 Update 7. At the time of writing this, it is the stable release version, so all you need to do is follow in normal installation instructions:
https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/

So, when you release the update 7a mentioned here:
Initially we were planning to release a 7a patch, but because we included a few more things, we decided to do a whole Service Pack, so whatever you see mentioned, it will be in V16 Update 8.

Update 8 Beta was released yesterday, so if you are eager to try it out, you should be able to install it from your Management Console.
The final release of Update 8 should be coming soon as well if you would prefer to wait for the stable.

Great work on the release. Applied it and was testing the Messenger integration overnight. We're based in Australia, I'm guessing since the FB application is managed by 3CX and you're in Europe we can't see any Profile pics and Names?

@RickG - Thanks for the heads up, we will look into it and revert. Are you registered and approved business on facebook (i forgot exact terminology) because this is required for them to send you this info. The app location is not an issue. (which is in the US on FB i assume)

@RickG can you please verify that you updated your PBX to the latest version which is v16 Update 8 BETA ?

@RickG name should be working 100%.
In case you had the old FB implementation already and FB released the GDPR update, then you might need to close any preexisting chat and delete it after, in order for 3CX to start a new question to FB for that information.

User's profile picture is a very restricted thing.

We have seen customer located in LATAM where Facebook reports the page is restricted by the EU regulations.

I would advise to update to U8 Beta (if not down already) and use the corresponding topic for follow-ups.
