I'm talking to the right Nick, this time ? :p

Can we update Alpha 2 to 3?

And, thanks for the audit log! You listened!

Yes, you can, give it a bit of time and it should appear under "Updates" in the Dashboard.

It would be great if the default codecs for smartphone apps could be defined as admin in the settings. In Austria we always work with G711 for smartphones and have to inform the customer every time that everything except G711 should be deleted in the prioritization for new extensions.

@mikeodo Good feedback thanks - yes we will consider it but try with the new G729 as default as it should already make a massive difference. G711 does require more bandwidth if you use the apps on the mobile network so for most cases G729 is the better choice

Is it possible that the flags of some countries in the SIP Trunks page are not correct? Not a big deal, but something I noticed in the latest release. I don't know if it was in the other releases.

I haven't been able to find documented what settings affect what things. This is what I believe, please correct me if wrong.
Extension -> Phone Provisioning -> Your phones "3CX App"
This affects the 3CX mobile app and the 3CX windows app?

Settings -> General -> Codec Priority for Local/Internal Calls
This affects the web client?

What about desk phones, does the Settings -> General option have any affect on these? Or only the web client.

Like mikeodo said, for us in New Zealand (and the rest of the world apart from USA) G711 a-law (AKA PCMA) is what the whole telco industry uses so we'd like to be able to set that as the default for desk phones when added etc.

What I'd love to see is a new "Codecs" menu under settings that both sets the codecs for web clients as well as the defaults for new apps, desk phones etc. It's bearable to change them all manually when installing a new customer but these gradually get more and more out of sync later on when new phones get added later on.

>This is to configure the codec priority for Media Server.

Re-WebClient at the moment it's hard coded but later we will be working on a page where you can configure easily 3CX Apps and WebClient. Also codecs will be configured based upon location so if you are in office you will have a set of codecs but if you are remotely you will have another set of codecs.

It would be very useful to map O365 pager/extension field to 3CX extension number.

In V16 user sync randomly maps O365 to internal 3CX extensions.

This has been asked before, but as far as I'm aware, in O365 there is no specific field (at least not default) that is intended for the "Extension Number".
I believe the on-prem Exchange had it, but not O365.

The allocation is not completely random, you can set the starting extension number from where the allocation will begin. You could for example say that "any extension number from 300 onward are synced from O365".

Hello 3CX team,
Do you have an idea when will the V18 be available for production uses ?
Regards,

Regards,
We can't give you a hard date right now as we are still working hard to put in the finishing touches, but it should be really soon.

Hello the team!
Just made the update and connected my O365 tenant for SSO. It's working great!
You may consider some improvements in the Audit log :)
  • see an admin login (I know we can have an email with that info, but that would help to have it at the same place)
  • if a change is done, in the "performed by" column we see the admin account and not the O365 user
Cheers,

Bastien

Are you using Microsoft Graph for this?

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/resources/phone?view=graph-rest-1.0

According to the above documentation, there is an "other" phone section, maybe that is where we store it? The IP Phone section is what we use internally.... but that doesn't seem to be available with Graph API.

Yes, you could do this, but it is not a dedicated parameter for an Extension Number. If ever a dedicated parameter for an Extension Number is introduced in Azure AD, it could be something we consider.

Is the ticketing system @Nick Galea talked about available in the latest release ?

@NickD_3CX I do not see that option - we do have to use a starting extension number when creating new users, but existing email addresses that match when sync is setup will sync the user to that extension. This seems to work well, but I am wondering what happens if the user has two or more extensions with the same email address.

With the improvements to user sync and the incredible addition of SSO we'll start promoting user sync. A couple of items I have found:

1) User Sync: Common Special Characters in the users 365 Office Phone and Mobile Phone numbers are synced to 3CX. When editing the extension these must be removed because 3CX is not allowing these, but they come back on the next sync. If they are left alone they impact dialing rules or other functions. Specifically, dashes and parentheses, and possibly periods. Could 3CX possibly allow these to be stored, but strip them from dialing functions? An alternative would be to strip them when importing.

2) Calendar Sync: Outlook appointments set to "Working Elsewhere" could be mapped to 3CX "Available 2". It would also be preferable to allow 3CX admins to map the status desired as I can see where some may want Outlook "Out of Office" mapped to 3CX "Away 2".
