Hi There,

I cannot see the ability for an admin to change the status of an extension based on the time of day for users anymore. Is this an error? We use this feature all the time, is it coming back?

Thanks

Nick

Hi @Nick W ,

This feature have been moved, since U4, in the webclient side of the extension.

Yes, I see it in the client, but it needs to be in both places. Customers have central admin teams that look after this for users globally.

There supposed to be a admin interface coming to manage these for everyone... probably in U6.

It's already there in the latest U5.

When you are administrator, you get an extra 'Admin' on the left side menu of the webclient and Desktop App, a lot like the Startup.

Right, but not in the full admin GUI, yet. I hope it comes back!

Well, I might have bad news for you. It looks a lot like the Management Console is going to be replaced by the 'Admin' section on the webclient/Desktop App, and this might be the start of this change.

I sure hope not.

Client and Server side admin can co-exist. But they should not be defined as the same thing.

Server Side admin should be a completely isolated experience.

Please just read the blog U4 BETA and U4, tons of people get the same feeling about this but the purpose is to reach U6 that will deploy the alternative with groups, etc...

Just wait & see. For me, I keep my customers in U3 to simplicity.

I did just read it, but missed the specifics around this. Thanks though.

It's not exactly that tho. And that "admin" section is VERY limited.

I too don't think so. MCM will bring many settings to users, but in other deployments, that will not always be possible (security inside a company, for example.)

Nobody reads the blog posts... ever apparently.

In fairness, I read the blogpost :) I just didn't read the entire thread thereafter :)

It's usually where you'll find more info on these types of changes.

Yup, but when it dropped, I was in a pool on holiday reading it ;)

I think the main reason, if it helps, is because we often use dummy extensions to do redirects based on times. Maybe 3CX will have a new way to do this elsewhere?

I spoke to a major customer yesterday about this. They really want to have both options available. Web client and admin GUI.

As the CEO said : Its double work for us to have two web interfaces for all config features and we are not going to do it. So please drop that discussion.

Yes, the new mecanisms that MCM will add, must make the dummy extension useless because it will be possible without using them. That what I understood.

I didn't see this, but it's clear. I would love to see a future blog post on the direction they are taking here.

I have no problem with new GUI in the webclient, as long as it is feature rich and considers the global administrator and not the admin user. (Both).
