I'm wondering about v18 callflow-app compatibility in the upcoming v20 PBX release

I'm using callflow-apps quite extensively and I'm wondering whether my v18 apps will work out of the box with the upcoming v20 release. Are there any known issues which will need to be worked around ?

I understand this is a broad question but I'm wondering if anyone has already run into issues while testing their apps.

In general there will be few changes in this area, so you can by enlarge re-use the existing apps. This is how it is looking now

Thanks Nick for your quick answer.

I guess I'll go ahead and install v20 then and start testing. I suppose it'll be alright posting possible issues here or would you rather receive tickets for specific issues if they occur ?

Hello @idovoip,

For your reference, after upgrading our test servers from v18 to v20, all the CFD apps I have tested so far work without changes. Please note however that v20 is still being developed, so some changes might affect this.....

Hello @edossantos,

Thank you for taking the tme to reply.

I am fully aware that v20 is not "final" in this regard as mentioned by Nick as well. All I really wanted is to get some responses from people who are in the same boat with me, having quite a few v18 CFD apps to potentially take care of in terms of adjustments that may need to be made before v20 goes live.

It's very encouraging to hear that you did not have to change anything in your apps to make them work in v20. The way I understand what Nick and you have said I will simply "Keep calm and start testing".

In my opinion:

I wouldn't make tickets for an issue with Preview. Wait till RC if not Stable before a ticket.

A thread on the forum though would be fine.

I agree. It appears that technical questions do get answered here so there's no need to bother with a ticket. I suppose I'll go ahead testing the more complex apps first. Thanks everyone for replying. If anything worth mentioning comes up I'll post it here.

I have often said the thing I like most about 3CX is the continuous improvements being made to the platform, and the thing I hate most about 3CX is the continuous improvements. If it is not clear, I'm making a little joke.

I could not even count the number of CFD applications we have created over the years. Keeping all of these CFD applications compatible has become a time-consuming task. Customers do not always think about the fact that they have customizations to their phone system (CFD applications) and a percentage of them will upgrade to the next version of 3CX without thinking about the ramifications. Then they get upset at us because their CFD does not work... sigh.

I love the fact that with each new release the CFD gets more and more capable. And we (developers) just have to understand that there is a certain amount of pain that comes with change. Anything 3CX can do to help migrate existing CFD applications to the latest version would be appreciated. But, I also recognize that there is always more that could be done, but there simply is not the time to do them all.
