I am running V20 and I need to re-provision the MacOS Desktop App on my Mac. I am unable to located the Apple logo/button to do the on the web client. Has this been removed from V20? Am I missing something here? I have tried to read through the forms related to this specific problem but was not able to find any answers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 3CX Enterprise license.

The Desktop App was removed in v20. Options are listed under the Apps button in the web client, in the lower left.

@SteveITS Ok, so there will be no support for a MacOS desktop application in the future or ever again in V20?

Apparently not... there is the new Windows Store app (which is a phone/dialer not a full client), and the web client/PWA.

That is really disappointing for companies that run on the Macintosh.

Also Windows. :) We will need to also have the web client open to use chat, for example, or just use the web client and not bother with the app.

Seriously? They whacked support for Windows too? I hate using wrapper apps that use a web browser. Close down the browser window... There goes the app. Closed... Ticks me off. I really dislike PWA in lieu of a native application. I don't like being forced to use Chrome.

I have an update that hopefully can help another user in a similar circumstance. If you are running on macOS Sonoma or later and you do not like using Chrome. You can use the 3CX PWA via Safari very easily. And the experience is actually very good!

To create the web app, do the following: Open Safari > Go to 3CX Web Client > Safari "File Menu" > Add to Doc.

The user experience is terrific. Nearly the same experience as the native electron app on the Macintosh. The Web App via Safari functions independently from the Safari web browser itself, which is fantastic. So you can close Safari and the 3CX PWA will not terminate. It stays open and will continue to function. And... Safari does not stay open after you close it. Only the 3CX Web App will reflect being “opened.”

PWA experience using Safari is just as good as the native electron app. So far…

Will the old MacApp still connect to V20 and further updates of V20, if it's properly provisioned before on V18? So we only have to inform the new users, or if they change their workstation?

Based on my experience it’s hit or miss. We had one Mac where the native app worked on V20 with no issues. The other Mac wouldn’t even connect to the PBX. Both Macs were running MacOS Sonoma. Wish I could give you more advice but it seems it’s totally hit or miss. When we rolled back from V20 to V18 the Mac that wasn’t working began working again… YMMY

Please 3CX, I really need a working macOS Desktop client! It is not nice to marginalize macOS users once more. There was a similar conundrum with an earlier upgrade, where 3CX also thought they could skip the macOS desktop client, until finally the real desktop client appeared. I won't be going through this circle again: I have more than a hundred users happily using the v18 macOS client with headset integration. I will not convert them to any "Web"-client that does not have full headset integration. Until there is a viable solution, I cannot convert to v20.

so in version 20 there is no way to provision a user again on the desktop app?

An MACos Client will be coming for v20. Its on the roadmap.

But for clients that have been using the desktop app am i correct in saying you can no longer provision the desktop app again after version 20 update?

As of right now, it will provision still. 3CX will likely break that at some point.

Ive figured out that if you use the new V20 app provisioning button and have it select desktop app it still provisions. Good for emergencies. :)

@tronic Was this on Windows or Mac? If Mac where did you find the provisioning button?

Unfortunately, this only work for windows, as you use the new Windows app provisioning link.

I'm not very MAC savvy, but can't you get a plugin for Chrome that changes your "User Agent". So it looks like you're on a Windows machine, and then you can use the Windows app provisioning button.
