Good morning and already installed and running without issues on most of our systems!
KUDOS to the 3CX team for another great release and thank you!

It’s great to see these features reach general availability. This release is truly a game changer. Congratulations to the 3CX team on a strong delivery.

We successfully upgraded our NFR license without any issues. However, we did notice that call transcription is no longer functioning on the NFR, and there does not appear to be a path to upgrade the NFR to Enterprise Plus to restore that capability. I wanted to share this observation in case it is helpful from a product or licensing perspective.

Thank you again for the continued innovation.

Please note that NFR licenses are not subject to enterprise +; you may look into the on-premises AI transcription server or use OpenAI or Google transcription services.

Will "VoiceMail Transcription via Google or OpenAI" still function for PRO edition? It is listed as included on the feature list: https://www.3cx.com/ordering/pricing/features/

It wasn't clear to me in the blog post if it is still included or not.

Thank you

3CX Cloud voicemail transcriptions are available with Update 8 (U8) on Enterprise AI and Enterprise+, while call transcription requires an Enterprise+ license;

Using Google or OpenAi, Voicemail transcriptions can be performed on Professional, Enterprise AI, and Enterprise+, whereas call transcriptions require Enterprise AI or Enterprise+.

Thanks for the heads up @AlexanderJHanna, @HarryI , @bcarrico

GOod point about the transcription for NFR if it goes well we will enable it in the NFR lets see how the uptake and resources go....

@loyer yes you can do voice mail transcription via Google or OpenAI

is update 8 setting the hard extension limit for people over the count on the license? just curious before we upgrade schools that might need licenses upgraded first.

Per the blog post, "Extension limits will not be enforced any time before 1st April 2026 as a minimum."

good deal, the affected customers are aware, but i had forgotten about that 4-1 post from earlier.

As a general rule we will not enforce any limits on licenses purchased before the announcement. That means if someone bought or renewed a license in October 2025 there will be no enforcement until October 2026. For the time being there is no enforcement at all though update 9 will see warnings. The next step will be that if you are over the maximum you can not create anymore new extensions. Also extreme cases might be refused support.

However when customers renew this year they need to be made aware of the new rules that this can be applied at some point.

Update 8 is a again a game changer. SSO via usergroups, Ai agents (which work rather flawless ).
Shared voicemails for queues and groups, the list keeps coming. Thanks for another great update!!

Just as an update we will give all silver and up partners ENT + so free transcription. Give us some time to implement it....

Thanks for the heads-up @ArneDery !

Interresting for more update in Update 8, I like feature Boss-Secretary mode for user.
I has some question in this mode.

1. If call in by Customer A to boss,
-secretary screen answer send to boss. Status boss get call Customer A via secretary.
This status below, Is it normal or not?
-secretary screen answer and send call to other, after other end call. Status Boss miss call Customer A.
-secretary screen answer and end call Status Boss miss call Customer A.
-secretary not answer.Status Boss miss call Customer A.

2. If secretary more than one for Boss,
If Assign a Secretary/PA is busy and no answer, Call send to forwarding Rules Secretary extension.
How to Additional Call Handlers working. this's mean setting Second Secretary or instead Assign a Secretary/PA via ringgroup, queue.

Thank you.

Yes, there was a call for Boss that they did not "answer" themselves, so they see it as missed, to know it happened.

Not sure if I understand correctly, but if I understood, you can assign any type of destination there, so if secretary is busy the Boss's call still gets screened.

just tested the auto firmware update on provisioning with a brand new yealink 44u as a router phone straight out of the box and it's grabbing firmware 1st boot. that's a game changer for drop shipping phones to customers and not having to pay a vendor to slip in the right firmware first!!

kudos to 3cx for slipping this into update 8!!

Hi Charles,

The 3CX page here https://www.3cx.com/docs/ai-transcription/ states the below, which suggests/states VM transcription is available on 8SC Pro and up?? as well as the Ai variants, is this an error or have I misread it??

License Requirements

For Voicemail Transcription:

  • Requires a 3CX Professional license.
  • If your 3CX license is 8SC or higher, voicemail transcription using 3CX AI is free.
  • If you have a 4SC license, you must configure transcription using OpenAI or Google.
For Call Transcription:

  • Requires an Enterprise/AI 3CX license.

Nick, that is a really neat idea, to not allow new extensions added to a system that is over the extension limit. I like that!
