I have an ENT system. I was on the upgrade webinar last week and forgot to ask this question as it wasn’t address. I have a failover server with my ENT located at a different location. Now once I hit the magic button to upgrade will then the failover come online since the main one if going to go offline as it’s doing its thing. If so, then how do I bring move the FQDN back to the main one. Now will I also then need to manually upgrade the failover to V20 as well, or will this automatically occurred from the daily scheduled backup and restore. If this could be addressed in how to handle an ENT will the failover at a totally different location. Thank you!!!

When PBX A goes off, PBX B will kick in if failover requirements are met.
You will need to stop the services on PBX B and run a license refresh on PBX A once it's upgraded to get the FQDN DNS to update
Depending on if you need the PBX to be running or not, you could disable the failover, upgrade A, upgrade B then enable it again.

So what you are saying is PBX b will kick in once the upgrade begins since a will be taken offline. But you still didn’t answer the question once A has been upgraded will I need to manually upgrade b or will it get upgraded from the scheduled restore.

3CX backup is of the config not OS. You'll have to upgrade that too.

can someone from 3cx confirm the same on the above for the ent failover server please. Thanks

In another thread I was advised to update the secondary server first, and then update the primary. I have not done this yet as V20 is still RC and not Final.

Please provide the thread where this is. I’m concerned as there is nothing out there in the blog, checklists, and wasn’t addressed in the webinar

What I would do:

1. Turn off failover on both PBX
2. Upgrade primary.
3. Verify everything is working and you are happy
4. Upgrade secondary at your leisure
3. Re-enable failover once done

You have a small window of downtime, but FQDN shouldn't be affected.
