Video support on Fanvil i31S & Door opener

Hi there!

I managed to install and configure a Fanvil i31S Door phone with our 3CX V18. The guide here (https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/fanvil-sip-doorphones/) is helpful, but actually I found it after doing it myself. The procedure is more or less straight forward and it's not different than any other IP Phone.

After the successful configuration, I was trying to figure out why I am not getting a video call. Finally I noticed that I can see video only on the new/modern "3CX Desktop App". I don't get video on the 3CX Web Client, or on the old 3CX Windows Client, or even on my smartphone (iPhone), via the 3CX App. I get the option for a video call, but I am not getting image.

Any ideas how that could work better and have video on all applications?

As an additional question, is which device would you suggest as door opener, in order to combine it with the Fanvil i31S. Anyone who had experience on that?

Regarding your question, the video function will depend on the video codec supported by the device. The Fanvil door phones support H264, which the webclient/desktop app being WebRTC based also supports, although the 3cx app for windows (legacy app) does not and supports only VP8, and H263. The mobile app also only supports H.263, VP8, and VP9.

We, therefore, suggest using the webclient or desktop app.

As an additional question, is which device would you suggest as door opener, in order to combine it with the Fanvil i31S. Anyone who had experience on that?

Regarding this, it's best to take a look at the device manual as it falls outside our scope.
It has some standard wiring terminal types used by common door openers.
You can then send a DTMF to the device and it will activate the terminals, which will then activate the solenoid on your door.

No plans. Was asked years ago and some licensing stuff makes it undoable.

Also if using the door phone in an insecure location make sure to use a remote web relay device and not the connectors on the door phone to permit the opening. Otherwise all one has to do is bash the door phone off the wall and connect two wires to open the door.
