Hello all,

I need some help with step-by-step instructions on setting up some Virtual Extensions on a Linux configuration. I have a Board of Directors for a non-profit that don't have offices on location. What I want to do is create Virtual Extensions that when some one calls for them and they dial there extension that it goes straight to their voicemail and then sends out an email to them with the VM attached, which I believe I have the email send portion already set up and coded. I am using the ImportExtensionTemplateV16.csv using the Importing Extensions in Bulk - CSV File Structure information on the docs page because I have 4 different DID's for 4 different businesses and may need to do the same thing on 1 or 2 other lines. I have looked at other posts in the forums but they seem a bit confusing to me. Thank you in advance for your help!

Importing extensions via csv file is different than importing inbound rules with a csv file.
If i understand you want to import inbound rules only?

I don't believe that is correct. I believe I want to import the extensions with a csv file with some extensions being Virtual since there is no physical phone at that extension but goes straight to a Voice mailbox for that Virtual Extension. It could be that I need to create the Virtual Extension and then add a rule for it to go straight to voice mailbox but I thought the Extensions CSV file would do that. Or am I wrong in my understanding in the creation and implementation of the Virtual Extensions?

I have attached an example CSV file [in PDF] to create the extensions.

I am also wondering about the AuthID and AuthPassword columns in the CSV file and what & how to create it since I am using IP Authentication Configuration.

Thx,
MacWarrior

Its better to create the routes from scratch and study the documentation rather then be focused on the CSV import file. This is only for large businesses. I believe its quite clearly explained how to create an extension and forward a voice mail.

I dont think you will get step by step instructions here on the forum. You will need to study manual, try it out, check and test and then ask questions on specific points that are not working or you can not get done.

To create 16 extensions with 16 different email addresses to send voice mail to literally takes 30 mins.

Is Yealink VP59 being supported by 3CX?

Is Yealink VP59 being supported by 3CX?

No, not supported by 3CX.
Understand that this does not mean, not compatible.
Support means being certified by 3CX and adhering to 3CX standards (interoperability)

For best experience, use phones with "Preferred" « level » .

I'm confused on how the majority of Yealink IP phones are "Preferred" but the VP59 is not. And the fact that I had already purchased the phone makes it even more frustrating. I know you say that it doesn't mean "not compatible", but it will take awhile to understand how to use the template and program a custom template and make it work in the Free version. But I guess that's my problem since it's not supported. Suck's to be me right now.

It is for reasons like these that 3CX invites end users to work with 3CX Certified Partners. We are trained to advise you and offer you the best advice and guide you to the best choices. I do not want to start a debate, but understand, imagine you are buying wheels for a car without caring about the size.. then you walk into a car dealership and say you are disappointed that your wheels are not recommended by the manufacturer. Everyone will tell you that you have carried out your transaction in reverse.

In order to provide the best possible experience, each phone manufacturer and model goes through a step-by-step exam to test each feature one by one.

I invite you to read this article, which explains very well the certification process for SIP Trunk Provider.
The tests are different but the logic and the objectives remain the same.

BUT, it's not too late,

check out this page and contact a 3CX Partner near you.
https://www.3cx.com/ordering/find-reseller/

They will be able to offer you solutions to your needs, recommend you, some offer to buy back non-supporter phones in exchange for credit on the bill !
The 3CX partner then negotiates with the manufacturer/distributors of the phones to get a discount or sometimes even sells them for you on Ebay (for example)….

So no, don't be discouraged! On the contrary ! Take matters into your own hands and contact your advisor. You are already on the right track, you have already found the best telephone system product on the market, all you need is an advisor who will guide you on the best formula!

Don't worry, you have nothing to lose, just positive!

Happy New Year to you, your project success awaits you :-)
