I have a simple question, but could not find an answer after extensive searching on the forums.

Scenario: 3CX on premise server, connected to SIP Trunk.

Let’s say that a user has 3CX Client installed on its iPhone and is on a remote location (off site / off premise), connected though 4G. When this user receives or places a call, after initation of the call, is the traffic subsequently routed through the on premise server or is a direct connection between the SIP Trunk and the 3CX Client established?

How will this call/traffic be routed (after the call is established)?

SIP Trunk --> On Premise 3CX Server —> 3CX iPhone Client

or

SIP Trunk –> 3CX iPhone Client?

Hello @P.B,

The 3CX mobile Apps for Android and iOS will both send and receive all SIP and RTP traffic to and from the 3CX PBX. No traffic will be sent from the Android or iOS app directly to the SIP Trunk Provider or vice versa. So, in your words, the following routing will apply:
SIP Trunk <> On Premise 3CX Server <> 3CX iPhone Client
