Firstly, fantastic product. I am a relative novice, and it got a very long way down the path without any assistance.

I have set up internal extensions, and external extensions using 3 VOIP providers and one PSTN. I have activated voice mail on one of my internal extensions, and have recorded a personal greeting on that extension.

However, whenever somebody calls me on that extension, my personal greeting is not played. It goes straight to the automatic computer voice. Can anyone troubleshoot what I have done wrong, or what I can do so that my personal greeting is played?

Also, after a caller has left a message the caller is then asked to press the pound key and then further asked to press zero to save the message. I would much rather that the court could just leave a message and then hang up. This is what most of them do anyway regardless of the instructions. Is there any way to customise this part of the voice mail configurations?

Appreciate any help offered.
Regards
Sam

Can you call other extensions and see if those custom messages are played?
Do you see a wav file located in the 3cx/ivr/data/ext# folder? (not exact on the path but it's close).

Appreciate the reply, thanks.

Yes, I have checked that the Wave Sound file exists in the directory structure for each extension.

Yes, when I ring each extension (from an external location and from Intel locations), the voicemail goes straight to the computer's voice which says "To record your message ....."

Any other ideas.... please.

Regards
Sam

By the way, I am using the following:

Gateway: GrandStream GXW 4104
Phones: Snom 360, and Linksys 941

In case any of this is relevant.

Can you post your server status screen showing a call going into VM?

Are you using the automated answer that transfers to the extension or is someone picking up the call and transferring it? Does the automated answer work?

Thanks for the reply,

This is from the server when leaving a message from a call made on another internal extension:

07:02:27.506 Call::Terminate [CM503008]: Call(124): Call is terminated
07:02:27.506 Call::Terminate [CM503008]: Call(124): Call is terminated
07:02:20.990 MediaServerReporting::DTMFhandler [MS211000] C:124.1: 192.168.1.106:57878 is delivering DTMF using RTP payload (RFC2833). In-Band DTMF tone detection is disabled for this call segment.
07:02:11.928 CallCtrl::onLegConnected [CM503007]: Call(124): Device joined: sip:[email protected]:2051;line=dz1tegw7
07:02:11.678 CallCtrl::onLegConnected [CM503007]: Call(124): Device joined: sip:
07:02:11.678 CallCtrl::onRerouteReq [CM503005]: Call(124): Forwarding: IVR:RecordMessage@[Dev]
07:02:06.490 CallCtrl::onSelectRouteReq [CM503004]: Call(124): Calling: Ext:20@[Dev:sip:[email protected]:5060]
07:02:06.475 CallCtrl::onIncomingCall [CM503001]: Call(124): Incoming call from Ext.10 to [sip:[email protected];user=phone]

I hope this reveals the problem for those with the trained eye will stop

Sam

I know it sounds strange but after recording you need to save the message. Did you do that by the keys?
A workaround could be to just record on a different recording facility like an ipod and give the file the exact name of what you now see in the voicemail directory
Place this new file there and it will play the right file. but that is a heavy workaround.

I have found the solution.

The personal greeting in the file structure must be named as follows "SaveVMGreeting", which I discovered through a Google search.

When recording the message using the phone, the program by default names the file as "Self_id_prompt". I renamed the file "SaveVMGreeting", and now the personal greeting play is as it should.

Thanks for the replies.
