We have had several cases where outside callers will leave a voicemail, but when we open the email attached MP3, there's no voice audio and just a bunch of static. The weird part is that the audio files are various lengths: 0:30, 2:41, 1:17, etc. so it's trying to record but not quite able to pull it off.

I ran a test by calling the main line from my cell phone and the VM sounds totally normal. Any idea why it wouldn't work with other callers?

  • 3CX Version: Enterprise Annual 18.0 Update 2 (Build 307)Version
  • Server OS, Raspberry Pi 4B 2GB
  • Is the 3CX Server Hosted and where? Hosted by 3CX
  • IP Phone Make/Model/Firmware version, Yealink T46S
  • Provisioning Method: SBC
  • Trunk Provider or VoIP Gateway Make/Model, Net2Phone
  • Has the Firewall Checker passed: YES
  • Are custom Phone Templates being used: NO

I updated the original post with more details.

Q: Is this happening with internal calls as well or only external calls?
A: Internal calls/VMs are fine: we don't generally leave each other VMs but it worked when I tested it.

Hi again!

I don't see the updated information just yet. Can you provide more details as outlined in the link I sent above?

Sorry, I edited my post but neglected to save the changes. It's there now.

Hi @Gandalf the White,

You mentioned an attached MP3 file, do you mean an attached WAV file?
