So I have to following very strange situation:

remote office connects via STUN to home hosted PBX. Worked fine for years. Upgraded the dect to a W70 base and W56H handheld, and the T46S to a T46U.

Registration works fine, you can call and be called with both phones.

Both phones are in the same call queue (extension 02 and 10, the dect is linked to extension 10)

->Both phones are logged in in a queue
->I veryfied via web that both 02 and 10 are logged in in queue explicitly
->if you call the queue, in web you see both extensions blink as in receiving call. Yet the DECT phone does NOT ring

if you call 10 directly, it rings.

Firmware is updated to the current supported by 3CX, I am running v18.9

I know STUN should be avoided, so am planning to upgrade the customer to V20 and work with router phone (T46U can be router phone), but not able to do that shortly.

What might cause this? never had issues with ringing in previous setup, which was a 56P detc and a T46S fixed IP phone

Hi,

Since you have a new T46U, you can assign it as a router phone, and the W70 can be added in SBC mode, selecting the T46U as its router (in V18 and V20).

This should solve the STUN related issues (probably the invite of the W70 ends up on the wrong phone due to automatic port remapping on your router).

nope, the option to configure it as router phone (which was exactly the reason I bought this new phone is NOT appearing in V18.9 !! if it is possible to configure it as router phone then please let me know how because then it would indeed be resolved. But when I followed the exact steps of the manual here online how to configure router phone, the option router phone did NOT appear !

Hi,

The Yealink T46U is a router phone; start by configuring it for a user.

Once you reach step 2, Select; If the phone is a router phone you can configure it to connect directly if you prefer

Once the T46U is fully configured, provisioned, and both incoming and outgoing calls are functioning on this phone, proceed to the next step;, go to the admin console, configure your DECT, and select "SBC." You should be able to select the SBC phone that you previously added via the WebClient.

Hoping this will truly be of help to you.

First make sure the phone is running our supported firmware (mandatory to enable router function)
https://www.3cx.com/docs/phone-firmwares/
  1. Log into webclient with a user that has system owner rights, click Admin on bottom left
  2. Edit and extension and add a phone (Outside the office -> Router phone)
  3. Pick T46U and add MAC
  4. Factory reset the phone and it will auto provision via RPS into a router phone
  5. After it comes up and is confirmed working, go back to management console DECT section
  6. You may now select your T46U SBC on your W70.

Note: In V20 everything has moved to the webclient so you will not need to do actions in the management console after upgrading, these are the temporary instructions for V18.

You are right, I wasn't yelling or didn't intent that. anyways, so I solved the issue meanwhile BUT not sure it is intentionally or a flaw in the system, but indeed you can only create a router phone via web client, not admin console, although all other configs seem to be exactly the same, and you can even configure more stuff via admin console than via webclient as admin user. So I wonder whether it is not just a glitch that the developers forgot to make that selection option available in the drop down menu in the admin console..

Hello,
no, it's not a developer issue. If you follow the announcements properly, the Admin Dashboard will be discontinued in the next version (v20), so it was unnecessary to create this option in the Dashboard.

https://www.3cx.com/blog/

Everything was transitioning to the WebClient, which will become the only page for administration and for WebClient use. The Dashboard will no longer exist in version 20.

Version 20 is currently in RC4, which means it's not officially released yet but is about to be. It is equivalent to a pre-release.

You could have found all this information through other discussion topics on the forums.

If you don't have the time to keep up with the news, it then becomes important to delegate this responsibility to a 3CX Partner who can advise you.

Have a wonderful day

Respectfully,
