W60B and W90 limit with G722 codec

I recently had an issue with 6 Yealink phones linked to a W60B base and only 4 ringing. I've now seen the documention with the wide-band limit on the G722 codec. I've looked at the W90 base which looks to allow up to 250 registered handsets but the documention looks to say it has the same limitation as the W60B base with the wide-band calls a maximum of 4.

Does anyone know if you have 1 W90DM with 2 W90B if the phones are all in the same area at one time, meaning they are only in range of 1 W90B does this mean only 4 can be active or would you be able to have 12 active handsets due to there being 3 bases in the network?

Is there a big drop in call quality to go to a narrow-band code?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

For hardware limitations it's really best to speak directly with the manufacturer so they can give you clarifications.

You cannot really control how many will connect to a base in multicell systems, so assume the lowest number of 4.

Selecting a wideband codec does not always mean better quality - consider that the microphone, the speaker, the DECT signal and other parts of the phone might not be able to capture and reproduce enough details to make much of a difference anyway, making wideband more of a "nice extra to have" rather than a necessity. You will have to try it out and judge for yourself whether it's worth it at all to begin with or whether it's better to have the maximum number of handsets instead.
