Wallboard on TV - What user do I use?

Hi,

I'm interested in using a Intel Compute Stick in a TV (as suggested in another thread) to display the Wallboard.

The browser on the Compute Stick obviously needs to log in to 3CX as a user with rights over the desired Queue.

How is that user set up? Is it just the same as any other user that is set up as an agent on the queue? How can the wallboard user be in the group but not have calls directed to it, do you just use DND?

In my mind, the wallboard user is just displaying information, so shouldn't have any other rights to make/receive calls etc. It's a read-only role so shouldn't be an agent.

There are plenty of other threads asking for the wallboard to be more configurable, I think that should be a priority. Having a reporting user that can then choose which queue to display a wallboard for seems logical, but maybe I'm the odd one out.

Really interested in how others set this up and how 3CX thinks I should set this up.

I would create a new extension and then you can add it as "queue manager extension number" under Call Queues | yourqueue | Notifications, without being part of the Call Queue.

Hi Al,

Yes you can create a user and say call it Wallboard PC which you then log in via the web client.

This extension can be a manager in the queue so they can see stats without being an agent of that queue.

Note we have been using them for exact same reason but keep have to log them back in after updates which is a pain. Windows 10 updates so seem to be coming in thick and fast.

There is a browser based wallboard if you are not precious about colour scheme.

Make sure you got bluetooth keyboards for compute sticks, you will need them.
