Ways to get optimal performance from 3CX Webmeeting?

Hi all

We've been testing 3CX recently and have been very impressed. The phone system works perfectly and is a much needed upgrade from our old system.

The Webmeeting functionality seems to work most of the time. It's great until someone with an older computer joins the meeting, after which several computers seem to have problems uploading video and then display a severely degraded message. We've set the MCU to automatic and set the bitrate to lowest to help these older devices but many still struggle. On these devices, the video seems to lag behind about 30-60 seconds the audio.

Does anyone have any ways to help older devices cope with webmeetings? We'd prefer performance over quality since many of our users have older laptops (around 2010-2011) and many are stuck with ADSL broadband in remote villages.

For these types of cases it's best to disable unnecessary videos if the user's connection or computer cannot handle it.

Setup the correct type of meeting:
1) Setup a meeting where everyone has audio, but no video by default. Everyone can enable/disable their own video and audio.

2) Setup a meeting where everyone has audio but no video by default. Only you (Organizer) can give permission to enable someone's video\audio.

You must also make sure that only between 1-2 videos are enabled at any given time.

Bitrates and Quality:
Given the low bandwidth and old computers, to keep everyone happy inside your meeting, you'll need to set your meeting's global video bitrate/quality to the lowest possible. Also if audio quality is not a problem, each user must set his audio quality to the lowest possible at 16Kbps.

These settings are in the webclient when creating your meeting and are not available for quickmeetings.


The above setup/s will require each video streamer to have 0.3 - 0.8 Mbit download and 0.3 Mbit upload on their internet connection.
