Hi,

We're having the same issue that has been reported in various other threads, just today (after an update to chrome i suspect) the Google extension client has no sound. Tried mic test on a different web page and it is working. Wehave our PBX hosted in AWS and it was setup using the PBX express so all ports etc. should be fine.

Thanks,

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

Are you running this version of Chrome?

We have the same issue too. Staff who have had no issues till last Friday have started reporting on Monday that chrome is having trouble.
It has happened to me today (after a chrome update). I have sent a general alert to all users to install the desktop app.

@JohnS_3CX This happened to me after the update to Version 85.0.4183.83 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Just a few minutes before my update, another user said that she got the message webrtc not registered and the extension worked after reloading, but no audio. Can confirm that her version of chrome is the same as above.

Ok, since your browser is updated, ensure that your PBX is also updated and then check your firewall ports again, you must ensure the UDP range 9000-10999 is open.

It's up to date and ports are open. A firewall check was done.

Hi @Anushke

If you like, you can create a test extension for me, and send me the fqdn/user/pass in a private conversation. I can try from here and see if get audio when calling *777

Please test the credentials before you send them to me to ensure I can log in.

Hi,

It looks like this might have been resolved in the hotfix but because our maintenance has expired we can't update. Is there anyway we can get this issue resolved or update without renewing our maintenance because we're now unable to use a huge part of the 3CX telephony system.

Thanks,

Anthony

It was an update issue for us too. Our PBX has had some issues with updates from day 1. A restart of the PBX essentially worked.

Hi Anthony,

What type of license do you currently have?

Hi,

We've got a professional perpetual licence, if i do a sudo apt-get install 3cxpbx on top will it install the hotfix?

Cheers

I have the same web-client audio issues on a couple of my instances as well. Both of problematic instances are up to date on v16.6. I've verified my computer/headset/browser mix works fine on other 3CX instances (also updated and on the same hosting platform GCP). Firewall checker is all green. It's a real head scratcher.

Also seeing this issue, latest service pack and Chrome fully up to date, has anyone found a resolution?

Hi Anthony,

Perpetual licenses require maintenance for updates, tested phone firmwares, security updates and the smartphone apps (which are licensed by year only and require valid maintenance). It also includes new versions (eg 15 to 16).

Annual Licences do not require a Maintenance: https://www.3cx.com/ordering/pricing/3cx-maintenance/

A perpetual license with expired maintenance can be converted to an annual license and get one year of free updates and upgrades.

Also was bit by this "bug". On many different installations on-prem and hosted. As a temp fix, installing the 3cx client for Windows does work. On a few instances, we were holding off on the update 6 final, however support wanted that installed before trying to troubleshoot the issue. Once update 6 was installed, it started to work again.

One of my PBXs that experienced this bug was on 16.5. Updated it 16.5 HOTFIX and it fixed the issue. However, another PBX is already on 16.5 (the latest) and the issue still persists....

having this issue too. Outgoing calls on chrome and edge no longer work. Windows client does work fine.

The cause might be 3CX extension permissions in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Enter the following URL in the address bar and make sure Microphone and Camera are set to allow:
  • Google Chrome: chrome://settings/content/siteDetails?site=chrome-extension%3A%2F%2Fbaipgmmeifmofkcilhccccoipmjccehn%2F
  • Microsoft Edge: edge://settings/content/siteDetails?site=chrome-extension%3A%2F%2Fkcijpkomlnpfpjmkbghnnmflfebimpfg%2F
Bold text denotes 3CX extension ID. In case yours is different, get the extension ID from the Extensions page, and replace accordingly.

Can always just click on the lock to check device permissions also. Unfortunately that's not the issue here.

Keep in mind the extension has it's own permission settings, independent of the web client web page.

@aberry ensure you are on the latest update, and latest chrome, then check your PBX audio ports on the firewall and ensure the whole range is open
