I have setup the free version 15.5.
When I press the test email button I get the 'No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 35.196.84.254:2528'.
There is nothing blocking outgoing connections.
Any ideas what the problem is/are?

Hello @Martin Snowden

Since this is the free / standard version of the PBX i am assuming that you are using the 3CX SMTP server. In that case please make sure that your public IP has not changed. If it has then please navigate to Settings / Network and set the External IP Configuration to "Dynamic Public IP (IP changes)" and restart the 3CX services. Then try again and see if you are still getting the error.

The public IP address hasn't changed. I changed the setting you suggested but I am still receiving the same error?

What is the destination the welcome email should go to? For example are you using Gmail or hotmail? Can you try sending it to a gmail account just for a test and see if that works? You can change the email by navigating to Settings / Email / Notifications. Also send us a screenshot of the error you are getting when you press the test button.

Email address changed but still the same error.
Here's the error from the 3cxsystemservice.log:

Are you running the PBX on windows or linux? Also is this a local or a hosted installation? If you are running windows make sure that all windows updates are installed as a root certificate might be missing from your machine and try again.
If you are on Linux then make sure that your Debian installation is up to date.
To make sure run the following:
Code:
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade
Before performing any action however please make sure that you have a full backup of the PBX saved in a safe location.

It's installed on a local windows box. The windows updates are installed.

In that case i would recommend creating a ticket with our support department so they can look into the issue and determine what is causing this

It looks like we have to buy a support ticket. We want to evaulate it first before we spend any money on it. Can anyone suggest a solution without buying a support ticket. One point to note is that we are testing it internally only where outbound network connections are allowed but no incoming - would not allowing incoming connections cause the error?

I am getting the same error.
Ongoing issues with 3cx.........

Why should we log ticket if it is effecting multiple customers.

Just tested another customer - same error - you have issues with your SMTP server.

And we cannot change to gmail or office365 now it is locked to 3cx.
Garbage system.
stupid idea

Hi Martin, Did you get this resolved? I am getting the same error and I don't know where the issue lies.

Hey @fiza fancy seeing you here!
I'd suggest again trying what's been suggested above - try a different email provider (e.g. Gmail if you're using Exchange). Beyond that, have a look at the email server if you can to see why it's been rejected.

As I have just downloaded the free version for testing I dont have an option to change the mail provider. It is set as 3cx smtp server only.

Daniel - I just saw the name! How are you?
