What's cooking this summer at 3CX?

Hi Nick,

will the 3cx on premise version still be available in future?
We have our own datacenter since 15 years and there are also many customers they *only* want on premise.

regards

@bit101 Yes on premise/self hosted will remain available. However, different support ticket costs might apply because its much more expensive for us to support compared to hosted or startup.
@Mike Hammet - Yes Startup is a multi tenant install but we have not decided to make it available to all. Its support intensive and so we cant have poorly run instances with just a few customers on it and sporting our brand. So its likely this will be reserved for partners/customers that bring larger numbers of customers to the table.
@ITMoped yes we plan to remove such restrictions but not in the upcoming update, we need to sort out group etc first.
@realtime Same for MCU, cant go there right now but soonish.

Hello Nick.
It is true, basically there are many clients that for confidentiality and security require and demand that the MCU be on premise. and it is an option that other solutions have not seen and could have potential.
In our case, our clients request it and expect a lot.
I'm looking for a local MCU so that I can increase resiliency and quality.

@Nick Galea You will never believe how happy we are with WhatsApp-support!
It's really the only messaging solution everyone has here in NL...
Don't forget support for WhatsApp-templates please (these messages can be sent outside the 24h time-frame but need to be approved -once, at the beginning- by WhatsApp. That we, you can send a message like 'your order with number 1234 is ready for pick-up' but you can never send unwanted commercial messages. We all know how much Meta hates advertisements,)

But we are really excited here, this really great! We have been using tools like Missive now, which is actually overkill for just using WA, and we really want all-in-one for communications so this is great!

Did I say we are really happy with this announcement.......

@noord Thanks for the headsup! Initially we are only doing the first 24 hour window, but soon we will have the templates you refer to so we can expand to outbound messages too!

@Mike hammet - our MCU are hosted at top data centers. The quality of video only goes down if a participant or the organizer has an underpowered PC/laptop....

Will the drag and drop call transfer feature be put back into the latest release please? We are about to lose an order based on the fact that this feature is no longer there....if it is't going back in, this is a major problem and I cannot see any customers being happy with having to type in extension names to transfer when previously they have used a Mitel or AVAYA pbx which allows a simple click on the iuser icon to transfer calls on Reception.

The old Windows app has it if that's such an issue. Not sure whether it will come to the new DesktopApp.

Thanks - yes I saw that but how long will that be useable do you think? And if it doesnt get added to the new one and the the old one no longer works, our customer is going to be very annoyed.

The customer can learn of the newer ways to do transfers in the apps.

No idea how long it will be supported still, but I expect a while since some features (like drag&drop) are still missing from the new app.

The 'newer' ways? The only way I can see is to type in the person's name and then click on them and click transfer? Is there something I am missing please?

You can set them BLFs to make it easier if there's not too many of them. Those BLFs show in the DesktopApp dialer.

@Nick Galea are there any plans to move the SBC off the client site and into the cloud for StartUP?

No an SBC in the cloud makes no sense. The whole point of SBC is to overcome issues with STUN and the local firewall. However there are going to be phones very soon with SBC pre loaded.

Is the presence/status sync between 3cx and Teams planned within these updates?

"SMS/MMS Improvements

The old “separate” SMS functionality will be phased out in time and you will have to reconfigure SMS in the new way."

So I imagine it will to work and then we will need to figure out how to do it this new way and then we can delete the other?

That sound exciting, can you give us a hint on which manufacture?

@SyncWave In update 5 you just have to add two params to your existing SIP trunk configuration. Please wait for the release and you will see how much easier it is to configure and maintain. No separate configure or DIDS. IMPORTANTLY no proxy in the middle so traffic goes directly to and from your server. And same holds true for whatsapp support.

@mooseman Let them get it ready first but i think if you look at the ordering of manufacturers on our SIP phone page, you can get a pretty good idea which phone vendors will support it first ;)

Bummer, it's not who i was hoping it was, for new sales we might have to look at deploying those models instead of the current ones we do. Will the list of manufactures doing this feature be more than 1 at any point in the future?
