We are full steam ahead this summer at 3CX. The new StartUP mode is being integrated into our main 3CX build and this means quite a lot of changes and adjustments. We wanted to give you a heads up on the direction we are headed and why we have to do it this way. Despite the usual Corona headwinds we hope to deliver on the below before the end of Su...

Nick, re: SMS/MMS Improvements. I noticed that not all of the current supported providers are listed as being supported with the revamp. How will this affect 3CX clients currently using a supported SMS/MMS provider not listed after the revamp such as Flowroute and Twilio?

"SMS/MMS Improvements

First of all we have redeveloped our SMS integration. Rather than having to configure it separately, you can now configure it at SIP trunk level. All that is needed is an API key and Webhook URL. Then all numbers become SMS enabled (for the US, it works differently in Europe). Initially we will be supporting DIDLogic, Voxtelesys, CloudCo, Telnyx (3rd party supported only) and Bandwidth. We will have a public document for providers on how they can interface with our SMS functionality. The old “separate” SMS functionality will be phased out in time and you will have to reconfigure SMS in the new way."

@Dominion Telecom - Actually we plan to add support for flowroute and twilio as well..... We are looking at this now....

Will the shared hosting of StartUP be available for partners to deploy on their own hardware?

How complicated is Prometheus to set up (and make useful with 3CX) for your standard, Linux-friendly shop?

Yes, it's already started but not fully completed (if you enable MCM.)

It deserves to be clear.

Nick - I don't see Skyetel in the listed of supported SMS providers for U5. Have they been pushed out or dropped from being officaly supported for U5?

The latest update broke our incoming calls
We are not able to receive any incoming calls, we use Telnyx trunks
Text messages and outbound calls are working fine

Great update Nick! If Prometheus is being used by 3CX for monitoring, does that mean it's a supported package that we can install on our own systems now and use for our own monitoring?

Not sure it's the 3CX. We had U4 for a while and only this morning have issues (Telnyx too, not all DIDs.)

Partners will be able to sell StartUp with 3CX hosting vs having to put on the partner's own, correct?

Just to make sure I understand the licensing, if Standard is going away and StartUP Pro has a limit of 20 users, then all installs over 20 will require a non-StartUP Pro license?

Will companies that have a paid Standard continue to function until renewal? But then at that point must renew at Pro?

Thanks,

@Mike Hammett - Yes StartUP will be available for own install but support options still need to be worked out. If you can do everything by yourself (you need to have fairly good knowledge of networks and 3CX) then yes you can.
@Bruce Brewer -No their API is not ready yet. Needs to function like Bandwidth. When it does we can add it quite easily in a future update.
@waynetruck - You shouldnt assume automatically its 3CX. All is working fine on our end, maybe contact Telnyx. Keep in mind Telnyx is not a supported provider, all testing and support has to be done by them.
@SweetAction - Good point! Makes sense, you should be able to. I will check if those packages can be added if they are not already. I do know we have it on our own instances so should be easy.
@SteveITS - Yes they would need to get PRO for above 20 users. Standard sales make up a very very small portion of our license sales and PRO is already very cheap. Good point about renewals.... But before it goes away you can buy several years no issue at all.
@Chris Wheeler - Yes 3CX StartUP will include hosting and partners can sell it - in fact our plan is to auto distribute leads to partners and these will of course be on 3CX hosted servers. More about that in a blog post tomorrow :)

We have one Standard but just renewed it a couple weeks ago. :) Do you have any sort of rough timeline for that? A couple of months? End of year?
Thanks,

FYI - Telnyx posted a status on status.telnyx.com of SIP call failures today.

Instance manager. I love it, but I also get why it has to go... :)

Can I ask, is there a simple way for 3CX to display the extension count in the "Systems" page of the partner portal. Right now, we use that data, and instance manager is the way we get it. Open to suggestions!

Oooh, same question please! Plus an article on how to get this up and running. Please and thanks

Hi Nick, any time line (or is it on the road map at all) for opening up the SMS API so sip providers not currently listed can integrate SMS capabilities for their clients?

@CallCentral - If you want a working example look at bandwidth.com implementation..... However customers should stick to supported and preferred voip providers.....
@Nick W - You can add the prometheus packages, we use them in our images. We will also add Zabbix and maybe other monitoring solutions (we will make a list) allowed packages in our image. They have to have an agent that they maintain in the main Debian respositories. Alternatively there are also "agent less" monitoring solutions such as PRTG. Please refer to websites of the monitoring solutions for articles how to setup and run these solutions.
