Hi, I'm going to be testing out a 3CX system to replace a Cisco CallManager Express.

One of our departments has a published number, that points to a hunt group that rings one of three extensions. Throughout the day as the agents come and go away from their desks (restroom, coffee break etc) they press a button on their phone that logs them out of the hunt group, that way the CME knows not to send any calls to that extension. When they are back at their desk they press the button and it logs them back in. If they forget to log out and miss a call as part of the hunt group, then the system will automatically log them out of the hunt group.

I will need to reproduce this on the 3CX system. What's the best way to do it?

Thanks for your time.

Queues

To add on to this, you can queue in and out with *61 and *62 respectively, or the Q button on the webclient. Blue = active, in queue; white/gray = queued out; other = not in any queues.

Awesome, thank you both! I looked up the difference between hunt groups and queues, and your answer makes sense.

@M_Albert
This can indeed be achieved by using Call Queues, though if you wish to use Ring Groups for any reason, what you could do is take advantage of the Custom 1 Profile Status which behaves the same as the Available Profile Status (default name: Lunch). You could for instance modify the Custom 1 Profile status to not accept calls from from Ring Group, and have a BLF key to switch Profile Statuses. This would of course mean that you will need a minimum of 2 BLF keys so that the user can switch back to the Available profile status when needed. Alternatively the user could instead switch between profile statuses by either using the dial code or 3CX client.

Thanks for the extra feedback!

I need the queue because often, but not always, there are more calls coming in than the agents can handle at once. I don't want the calls just blindly going to a hunt group. But I also need the phone system to know which agents are available for a call, After reading 3CX's documentation on queues, it looks like the right fit for my needs.

Excellent, glad to hear you found what you need! Please feel free to start a new thread should you need more info!
