Which audio codec works best?

Hi everyone,

I am currently using these audio codecs (via Elastix -> Unembedeed PBX -> Tools -> Asterisk SIP Settings).

- ulaw
- gsm
- alaw

I noticed my line quality wasn't that clear.

However I met a guy at a conference and he told me to use other codecs than the above, say G722 or something like which can make the audio quality so much better.

There are many options unticked too...

Any recommend options for best audio quality?

Hi, if you want the best audio quality on lan, use G711 (alaw or ulaw), if you want use on WAN, use GSM o G729.

I'm curious. If I just enable alaw and disable the others, will elastix still work properly?
