I notice there are lots of forum topics that are really helpful but don't quite get the full answer or explain things completely, but the thread is closed so future questions related to that issue cannot be asked or clarified. Is there a specific reason why the threads get closed? Other forum systems seem to leave the thread open indefinitely so future questions or clarification can continue on the same topic rather than having to open a new topic, so I wonder if that has been considered?

Posts used to be left open, indefinitely, which encouraged people with similar, but not necessarily the same issue, to add to the post, rather than start their own. This wasn't really helpful when people did a search on a topic. The closed posts I've seen are because the question was answered, or solved, or there was no solution available to the original question.

Because 3CX is the only one that can close a post, they will have to offer the definitive answer.

Adding to what @leejor mentioned, topics also auto-lock after a period of inactivity which indicates that there is no more interest for that topic.
As we release updates to the system quite often, we like to encourage users to create new threads and report the issue for the current version. What did apply for an earlier version might not apply for the new and the cause or the solution might be completely different.
We also encourage people to state their exact version of the system when creating a new thread so that future readers can decide if that applies to them or not.
