Running v20 latest on Win on-prem PC and want to migrate to 3CX hosted. As I understand it I need to first install an SBC and migrate the phones before running the 'switch to hosted'. My question is will there be conflicts if I install the SBC on the existing PBX PC, migrate phones to SBC, then use 'switch to hosted' then uninstall the Win 3CX PBX or might there be port or FQDN conflicts when running both?

The SBC software installs on a separate device so it can proxy connections to the 3CX server. I would not install it on the 3CX server. It's not needed if on the same network as the 3CX server so I don't know what will happen if you install one on that network or if it will even work.

I would just plan to reset and reconnect the phones to the new server, through the SBC.

Hello,

Not sure why you do say this:
As I understand it I need to first install an SBC and migrate the phones before running the 'switch to hosted'.

If it is a problem to execute this, then just move to Cloud.
Check if all extensions/trunks etc. are all in the configuration in the cloud, then shutdown/remove 3CX from server and install SBC.

Reboot all phones (if on POE switch, reboot switch). After SBC is working!
Phones will apear on the 3CX Cloud as PNP phones, from here you can provision all the supported phones.

I'm referring to step 2. in https://www.3cx.com/docs/switch-hosted-pbx/ "If you are using IP phones, you must deploy a 3CX SBC using your 3CX FQDN. The IP phones need to be re-configured to use the 3CX SBC" If I install the SBC before removing the 3CX PBX I can easily log in and change each phone to the SBC.

Hello,

Okay, great documentation, i understand now.

So there is a choice.
Use an SBC on an pc/laptop, but NOT on the 3CX server before migration.
OR just migrate and setup the SBC afterwards.

Access to the 3CX server to setup a SBC will also be possible on the Cloud.
The re-provisioning of the phones has to be done either way.

Anyway this is my personal opinion about the migration. Hope it will all work out for you!
