I am wanting to set up a DECT W52P base station and three W52H handsets in an area of my building

I wanted to know if I can have three separate extensions assigned to each handset? Or do I need to buy three W52P base stations to achieve this

Hi Chris,

If the 3 handsets will be used in the area covered by one base, you can indeed have 3 separate extensions on it at the same time.

Note: It can accept a maximum of 5 separate extensions existing at the same time, but can only handle a maximum of 4 simultaneous calls.

Thanks, and do I need a SBC on premise to connect the dect to my hosted 3CX instance or can I connect it directly?

Hi Chris,

You can install an SBC at the remote site, which will allow your W52 to connect to the hosted instance (this is fully supported and very reliable).

If you host your own instance (ie. not hosted by 3CX servers) you can optionally connect it directly using STUN mode. I would not recommend this mode though, the phones tend to be unreliable unless you perform all the steps mentioned in this guide. It requires more effort, and you might have issues in the future that you will need to troubleshoot. Ultimately the choice is yours but I would recommend using SBC for better reliability.
