Hello, I changed my 3CX global timezone to GMT+01:00 (it was GMT-04:00 previously). I also changed the timezone on the server (and rebooted it). The time shows fine on the activity logs on 3CX.

However, I'm still getting call reports sent on GMT-04:00 timezone, even though I updated them with GMT+01:00 timezone.

Is there any other hidden option that I must set somewhere?

Thanks!

Hello @lee3cxp1

Do you make reports with calls made after timezone change ? Or you still make reports with old calls ?

Yes, reports are sent daily so they include new calls.

Here's what's happening, from what I understood.
  • Server is setup in CET timezone with GMT+01:00.
  • User A is located in EST timezone with GMT-04:00.
  • User B is located in CET timezone with GMT+01:00.
User A logs in and creates report to be sent to User B at 23:00. The report is sent to User B at 05:00 GMT+01:00. When User B logs in to management console, the report is set to be sent at 05:00. Notice how 3CX never specifies which timezone it's using for that "hour" field?

The confusion is that 3CX is using the server timezone to run reports, which is fine but it needs to put a hint somewhere that says "Hey, enter your local timezone BUT 3CX will use server timezone instead". So, when User A creates a report and types in 23:00 to send report, he should know that the report will run at 23:00 local user's timezone and NOT at 23:00 server timezone.

I hope I was clear with all of this and I certainly hope this helps someone else out.

Hi Lee

The report is designed taking your timezone into account (regardless of the servers own). So if a user in another timezone makes a report, the system assumes they will want it delivered in their own time.

If you are sending the report to a person in another timezone then you need to compensate accordingly when you insert the time to make it easier change your PC timezone to the same timezone as the person you will send the report to (before logging in to the MC).

Of course there are caveats here that you must keep in mind, if it's Thursday 23:00 at the PBX zone, and you are located somewhere that is now already Friday the next day, if you generate a report for the whole day of Thursday you will miss one hour of logs.

Thanks for following up!

Hi Lee

This is fine as long as it's specified somewhere in the report create/update form. Just putting "EST" (just as an example) next to the "Hour" text field so users don't have to go through what I went through. It's a simple fix for the 3CX user experience.
