Yealink behind SBC and remote

I am fairly new to 3cx but have managed to get phones up and working behind a raspberrypi SBC and also provisioning via STUN. When users have a phone on their desk behind the SBC (Yealink) then want to telecommute for a few days, how do I then configure that phone to connect via STUN? I'd like for them to be able to take their phone home, connect via wifi and have their extension come up...bring it back to the office, connect to the LAN and have it back up and working. I have 3cx running as a cloud service. My thought is that STUN is the only way for the phones to connect outside the office but I could be wrong.

Have you considered setting up soft clients for them with headsets or on mobiles ?

Your idea seems not to be the best for you to manage and for your collegues , should be surely easier to install App on smatphone and duplicate extension on it or create a new one for smartphone only.

This avoid to reconfigure phones each time they move, deskphones stay to the office ready to use.

Thanks for your input. it may be easier to just get them an additional phone. Or possibly just have the 1 or 2 that may be more mobile and want to take their desk phone with them, as STUN provision.

If they need to work regularly from home, the best is to add permanent phone set in STUN mode if only one or two are connected from same location, if more then add Pi SBC.

Hi Scot,

STUN phones will work remotely as you wanted, but you need to make sure their ports are open on the local firewall when the user takes it elsewhere. That's not to say they won't work, but you might not get a reliable experience unless you do so.

This makes it hard to manage and is probably not the best solution since the user won't know to open the right ports or might not even have access to them. What's worse is that some home routers may have ALG or even reserve SIP ports for their own purposes. Something that doesn't suffer from this is the Webclient or 3CX soft clients (with tunnel enabled). If you must have a deskphone then, you should pair it with a small VPN router or a raspberry Pi SBC, but this again adds complexity.
