As my first thread was closed for whatever reason without any answer, I (have to) post it again...

Hi all
I have a (seems to be not) trivial problem.

We use Yealink T46S phones and want you use different ringtones for external calls.
I can load the custom ringtone (xx.wav) without problems over the web-client to the phone end set it as external ringtone.
This works without problems, until the phone is provisioned the next time.
After that, the default ringtone from the 3cx (Ring2.wav) is set again...

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to overwrite the default ring tone Ring2.wav with the custom ring tone on the phone, what would be the easiest solution.

On the 3cx, I only can set a ringtone from the default ring tones (ring1- ring8 silent and splash).

Is there an easy solution for this “trivial” problem without to start a “project” for the implementation?
Thanks for any suggestion.

Hi Saqqara

Thanks for your reply.
This is the only way...?
It’s not so nice, to create a custom template only to be able to set a custom ringtone persistent on a Yealink (this has to be done again, if the templates changes).
Further especially the Yealink devices seems to be not so trivial to change (as the template seems to generate two config files then).
3cx should really add a feature to make it possible to set a custom ringtone, that remains o the device.
E.G. add a checkbox “use setting on device” (if checked, the default ringtone will not be overwritten by provisoning). This way, the default template can be used and for each device the default or any other .wav can be set as default ringtone.

To be sure, how to do and apply the change...:
On the provisoning tab in the console, the default ringtone can be configured (base setting: ring1.wav)

To change this, I have to:
Open the template to Yealink T46S, what should be yealinkT4x.ph.xml

Version1:

Under <ringtones>:
change

Ring1.wav

to

custom.wav

change model names in template
save the template under a new name (e.g. yealinkT4xCustom.ph.xml) and set it to the device(s).
This then should change the default ringtone to custom.wav for any Yealink, that has this template set automatically - correct?

Or Version2:

add a new (not yet existing) entry:

custom.wav

change model names in template
save the template under a new name (e.g. yealinkT4xCustom.ph.xml) and set it to the device.
and then set the default ringtone in console to “Custom”
This also should work?

What is the better way...?

Thanks for a further feedback.
