I've updated most of my phones to the new Yealink v86 firmware and haven't had much trouble. One user reported a change in how her headset works and I wanted to verify that it was in fact the update. I wanted to roll back my phone to test a before-and-after. Manually installing the old firmware on my phone through the Phone UI succeeds, but upon rebooting and provisioning it jumps right back into an update to the 66.86 firmware.

Does 3CX just have my phone flagged as wanting the update now that I've pushed the latest firmware to it once already?

You'll want to remove the provisioning path in the phone and then update. The template is pointing to the new firmware file now that it's on the system.

Thanks for the quick response! The provisioning path just gets replaced as soon as the update completes and the phone starts. Then it proceeds to apply the new firmware update again. Do I need to make a custom template?

Edit: I think I managed to get it. In addition to removing the provisioning link, I disabled the 'Provision at Power On' setting. This time, after an update I instead got a message on the phone saying "Update Skipped"
