Hi,

I have 2 separate customers on cloud hosted instances who both have Yealink T46U IP Phones which are not updating automatically when I try and force the update from the management console.

Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it?

I know I can try update them manually but it is not ideal as the customer is very far away and I do not have remote access to their LAN. I was looking if there was other options I could try before I ask their tech team to have to update them all manually when I am the one providing the service to them, equally not ideal with a lot of phones either.

Both are running Version 18.0 Update 8 (Build 939). Phones are currently running firmware - 108.86.0.72

Thanks :)

Hi @Adam4521 how did you provision the phones?

Hi @Alejandro_3CX

I believe they were provisioned by an SBC on site running on a windows VM.

Thanks

Hi @Alejandro_3CX

can you confirm this? also were the phones provisioned via PnP, RPS or manually copying the provisioning link?

No problem @Alejandro_3CX ,

So at initial set up, they were provisioned with the provisioning link through the SBC that was set up onsite

Thanks

Hi Adam, if the phones were provisioned correctly as the guides with the supported firmware and then later on there is a firmware update available, clicking on the firmware button the system will send the update to the phone and the device will take the firmware from the firmware provisioning path, this works as expected.

Manually configured phones will not be able to get the firmware when clicking the firmware button.

This could be also a network issue since the phones will take this via https, you can troubleshoot it checking the managementconsole.log (with verbose enabled) and also doing a packet capture, so you click the firmware button then can check the traffic and logs and see if there is any error/warning.

Also please bear in mind that if the phone by any chance is using an older firmware version then an intermediary firmware version is needed before going to the last firmware available.

Yes I will try this. Both customers have other model Yealinks that are performing normally it is just the T46U that is not working as expected.
I will try one out of hours today and check the logs to see if this indicates anything.

Alright, if you find something you can share it here.

The firmware button did not work. There was also nothing in the logs but this was not in verbose mode so I assume that may be why.
However when I pressed reprovision instead, they have come back online running the new firmware.

Thanks

ok, good to know the phones are running the supported firmware now.

Have a good one!
